This document outlines a standard test method for determining the presence of oil or water in compressed air. It provides instructions for using either an absorbent or nonabsorbent collector to visually examine compressed air and detect any oil or water contamination. Any indication of oil or water on the collector is cause for rejecting the compressed air from uses like abrasive blasting or coating application where contamination could be detrimental. The test should be conducted as close to the point of use as possible and after any inline oil and water separation equipment.
