Jimmy Carter was born in 1924 in Georgia and served as the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for his work promoting peace, building homes with Habitat for Humanity, and monitoring elections. As President, he helped Egypt and Israel sign a peace treaty in 1979 and tried to negotiate an agreement between the USSR and US to reduce nuclear weapons.
