Serving Soldier.
As a Soldier, I served with the 3rd Royal Tank Regiment as a Foot Soldier,
a Driver. A Stores Accountant. The Commanding Officers P. A. And as an
Officers Mess Steward. (MSM Decorated).
 1978 On joining my Regiment from training and firefighting duties, I was
promoted to Lance Corporal.
 1979 I was tasked with assisting the daily running of the Motor Transport
Section. Achieved the Certificate of Advanced Motoring ( I A M )
 1979 I was promoted to 2IC of the G10 Equipment and Armoury Stores of
Regimental HQ Sqn. I was promoted to full Corporal to take this post.
 1980 I was the Commanding Officer Lt Col Tony Allen’s 24Hr Driver and
assistant. I was promoted to Local Sergeant. In the absence of the
Commanding Officer, Iwas taskedwithworkingas aStewardintheOfficers
Mess.
 Promotion to Lance Corporal immediately on joining the Regiment.
 Full Corporal within 14 months of Lance Corporal.
 Local Sergeant within 3 years service.

On leaving the service, I continued to work as a civilian within the garrison
forces system where I had previously served.
 Managed a team of 5 staff.
 Lookedafter 7 largekitchens personally supplyingall withdaily foodrations.
 Maintained the main kitchen ration stores. The demanding, receipt and
issue of food rations for a large NATO Training Camp.
 Maintained all aspects of food storage and rotation. Providing the the
kitchen with the correct food for the coming menus.

 Liaised with all 7 kitchen’s Head – Chefs’ and Staff with regard to menu
forcasts.
 Sole running of the NATO training camp rationing system.

I made use of my prior apprenticeship in upholstery and took a better paid job
working for a local furniture manufacturer.
 Helped to school young apprentices in basic techniques.
 Went on to work in the main factory workshop “P1” making everything from
economy class soft furniture to exclusive leather office furniture.

 Daily running of the Garrison Accommodation store. Including the delivery
& collection of SFA Crown furniture items for approx. 3500 Families
quartering properties.
 Vehicle maintenance and servicing schedules.
 Conditioning and rotation of 2 warehouses of stock.Hardstick, soft
furnishings and carpets.
 Tech-Admin of all employees.
 Introduced several new stock keeping systems including the long-term
storage of carpets curtains and bed mattresses. Upgraded the weekly
laundry system to include the married quartering cleaning service.
Responsibilities 2000 to present.
Moved to a newly created post of Inventory Clerk. Bookkeeping
housefile inventories.
Responsible for the planning, running and maintenance of varied
aspects of Service Families Accommodation/properties for several
military garrisons. Including the delivery and collection of Crown
furniture, corresponding rental charges, billing procedures for military
personnel and civilians. Gas and electricity billing, maintenance,
renovation and refurbishment projects.
