Career Profile:
I have sailed as Chief Engineer on large Gas Tankers for the last 8 years, out of 13 years on this
type vessels ,a total of 18 years at sea and achieved this position after getting promoted from
4th,3rd and 2nd engineer. After each rank I met the criteria of sailing at sea and appeared for
class-2 (Motor) and finally gaining Class-1 (Motor) (Unlimited)as per STCW95 Conventions to
be Chief Engineer.
Career Goal:
Utilizing my technical and managerial experience which I gained at sea, I intend
to manage vessels or a project manager ashorein any technical establishment
related to maintenance of large diesel engines apartfrom sailing or can work for
maritime establishments or classification society as surveyor.

The job being contractual and the contract periodfrom 3-6 months.
Brief Descriptionof Duties of Chief Engineer
 Head of the engine room department .
 Co-ordinate withoffice superintendent regarding future drydock planning
and keepinformed about the breakdown/status of the machinery while
at sea.
 To plan in advance the necessary spares andstores andissue requisitions.
 Responsiblefor the maintenance and operation of the ship’s propulsion
machinery ,Auxiliary machinery (DieselGenerators,Fuel/Lub oil separators,
boliers, air compressors,InertGas generating plant ,Air conditioning and
ventilation ,fish roomand meat room) and communication with the office.
 To comply the pollution prevention regulation as per the state law and the
company policy and to keep the vesselupdated as per Class and portstate
control inspections.
 To prepare the vesselfor the dry dock as per schedule
 To effectively and safely manage the team of associated engineers as per
the company policy.

4. Duties of2nd,3rd and 4th Engineer
As 2nd engineer I was responsible for the maintenance and upkeep all the engine room
machinery with the associated teamof 3rd engineer ,4th eng and apprentice engineer.
AS 3rd engineer I was responsible for the maintenance and overhaul of diesel engines ,power
plant and separators and bunkering operations.
As 4th engineer I was responsible for maintenance of incinerators, air compressors, bilge water
management and bilge separator.
As Junior engineer I was responsible for learning the function of each machinery, piping and
assist other engineers in overhaul and maintenance.
Transferring of engine room bilges and sludge in appropriate tanks.
