In 1951, an inventor and entrepreneur developed a device called the electro-hydraulic servovalve. This device,
which works by a tiny electrical impulse into a precise and powerful movement, revolutionized the aerospace

JOB SUMMARY:
As a Gear Cell Machinist, I do a variety of operations on all types of materials on a gear hobber, gear
shaper, gear grinder, broach, lathe or an N/C lathe, a mill or an N/C mill, a grinder, an EDM, a hone,
lap, and deburr. I set-up and run one or more machines simultaneously as operation requires. I am not
required to be an expert in more than one family of machines (lathes, mills, gear hobber, shaper, etc.).
My responsibility may cover running more than one machine.

• Inspects produced parts using precision instruments per blueprint and operation sheet
requirement.

6. • Performs set-up and runs machines, trains and provides guidance for new operators and
performs all other operator level functions.
• Operates machines outside my area of expertise
• Participates in the planning of work within the Cell and helps in solving problems occurring
within the Cell.
• Performs the necessary coordination to consistently maintain the effective utilization of time,
tooling, equipment and other resources within the cell area.
• Coordinates with other personnel to maintain the most effective workflow and ideal
throughput to identify bottlenecks and achieve line balance in a cell environment.
• Inspects all works performed, detects unusual conditions, (defective materials, and deviate
parts), recognizes errors in blueprints and operation sheets, has knowledge in gear measuring
equipment.
• Performs preventive maintenance for the machine: coolant refilling, regular checking of
lubrication oil and hydraulic oil levels and regular machine cleaning every after shift.
MACHINES OPERATED IN GEAR CELL MACHINING:
• KELLENBERGER KEL-VARIA URS 250/1000 - is a precision CNC external and internal cylindrical grinding
machines with 4 automatic indexable grinding wheels (2 external and 2 internal). This uses HEIDENHAIN
GRINDPLUSIT CONTROL SYSTEM. Programs are uploaded via DNC or thru USB drive.
• GLEASON PFAUTER GP200S SHAPER - is a 6-axis CNC shaping machine designed to produce internal and
external cylindrical gears as well as other profiles and forms on cylindrical work pieces that can be
shaped, from as small as 2.0 inches to as large as 8.0 inches. Also suitable for the production of profiles
by applying the single indexing method. It has a FANUC series 160i-M CNC 32-bit controller with digital
drives. Programs are uploaded into the machine via floppy disc drive.
• GLEASON 125GH CNC HOBBER - is a 6-axis CNC hobber that delivers a host of long-sought benefits for
the production of gears from as small as 0.25 of an inch to as large as 8.0 inches. It has a FANUC series
180i-MB CNC 32-bit controller with digital drives. It provides automatic set-up and control of axial feed,
radial feed, hob position, hob speed, hob to work ratioing and hob swivel setting. Programs are
uploaded into the machine via floppy disc drive.

7. • OKUMA LT300-M - machining functions and operations of this machine is the same as the other Okuma
CNC Lathe Machines. This PC-fusion machine only differs in its controls and uses OSP-P200L system and
is Window XP based. Programs are uploaded into the machine via DNC or thru USB drive.
• OKUMA LT25-M – same as other Okuma CNC lathe machines but uses OSP=E100L system.
• OKUMA LT15 MY - same as other Okuma CNC lathe machines but uses OSP=E100L system and it has a Y-
axis on its upper turret.
• OKAMOTO IGM-15NC – is a precision CNC internal grinder which uses conversation input system or ISO
programming. It has FANUC series 18i-TB control system with digital drives. Programs are uploaded via
DNC or thru floppy disk.
• OKUMA MA -50 HB – is a CNC controlled horizontal milling machine which has 10 pallets and tool
carousel capable of holding 200 tools which is CAT50 types. This has OSP-U100L system.
• OKUMA-GA – is an external diameter CNC grinding machine with almost the same controls as other
Okuma lathe machines.

JOB SUMMARY:
As a Large Body Cell Machinist, I perform a variety of operations on all types of materials, such as
titanium alloys and aluminum alloys on a CNC horizontal milling machine, CNC lathe. CNC EDM

are uploaded and downloaded using a floppy disc.
• OKUMA MA-500HA SPACE CENTER – the same numerical control system as OKUMA MA-50HB except
that this machine uses an upgraded OSP-U200L system, PC-fusion, full-touch screen and is windows XP
based. It can be configured as five or ten pallets.
• OKUMA MA-400HA – this has the same numerical control and OSP system interface as its bigger brother
MA-500HA except that it uses a smaller tool holder, a CAT 40 types and capable of holding 154 tools and
configured as two pallets only.
• CHARMILLES P30 – is a CNC EDM machine which has a 10-tool carousel.

JOB SUMMARY:
I performed a complete range of turning, drilling, tapping, boring, burnishing and reaming operations on all
Computer Numerical Control Machines (CNC). Perform all types of set-ups from simple to complex including
fixture alignments and setting of tools. Work from part drawings and blueprints, operation sheets and program
sheets. Check for program errors and worn or defective tools. Observe and suggest methods for more efficient
machining. Detects defective parts and tooling, and notifies Technical Coordinator or Facilitator for unusual
conditions. Set-up machines, trains and provides guidance for new CNC operators. My responsibility covers
running more than one machine.
DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION AS A MACHINE OPERATOR:
• Analyze manual and CNC grinds, manual and CNC lathe and CNC milling operation based on operation
sheet per operation number
• Operate most types of manual and CNC Grinding, EDM Machines, CNC Lathe Machines, and CNC milling
machines and all the necessary attachments in the machine.
• Set-up proficiently multiple manual and CNC grinding and milling machine based on operation sheet and
blueprint.
• Checks and examines grinding wheel and cutting tools, recognize and correct errors in tool geometry.
• Preset different types of tools such as gun drills, boring tools, graflex, spot drills, end mills, reamers,
inserts, etc. Use proper holders in accordance with specified preset length in operation sheets and
establish the necessary tool offsets in the CNC controls depending on tool geometries.
• Prove out new fixture and program on CNC grind and new program on CNC lathe.
• Produce various types of machined parts made from various types of materials, from Aluminum Alloy to
Steel.

10. • Applies blueprint reading and proper inspection procedures on various parts produced.
• Inspects own work based on controlled dimension on operation sheet or blueprint per operation using
various gages and precision measuring instruments with an accuracy of twenty millionths of an inch
(0.00002”). Such measuring instruments are: Coordinate Measuring Machine, ZEISS Prismo CMM,
Microhite, Digimatic Indicator, Optical Comparator, Tool Maker’s Microscope, Dial Indicator, Micrometers,
Surface Plate, Gauge Block, Set Ring, Bore mic, Profilometer, Talyrond and Talysurf etc.
• Identify process or operation problems and solves them with the proper information to the immediate
supervisor, such as: CNC program related problems, tooling, process operation, non-conformities in
parts and blue print and discrepancies in parts produced.
• Maintains calibrated precision measuring instruments such as dial indicators, fixed gauges, micrometers,
depth gauges and other measuring devices using specific set masters.
• Provided and suggest methods for efficient machining to lessen run time / cycle of parts produced during
machining. Request for Engineering Review, (RER).
• Conduct actual training and provide guidance for new CNC operators.
• Followed safety standard operating procedures set by the company.
• Maintained good housekeeping in the shop and recommend provisions for pleasant work area.
MACHINES OPERATED IN FUNCTIONAL AND CNC MILL MACHINING:
• STUDER S21 – is a precision CNC external and internal cylindrical grinding machine capable of
controlling very tight tolerances with digital drives and has .00001 inch graduation. It is built with 3
automatic indexable grinding wheels that can be used together thru conversational and ISO
programming. This machine uses GE FANUC series 21i-TB control syste. Programs are uploaded via
DNC.
• STUDER ECO 650 – is almost the same as other CNC studer cylindrical grinding machines but only uses
1 external grinding wheel that is manually index to desired angle. This uses GE FANUC series 21i-T.
• OKAMOTO IGM-15NC INTERNAL GRINDER
• CHARMILLES P30 – CNC-controlled EDM machine
• OKUMA MX-45VAE – CNC vertical milling machine which uses an OSP-U100L for older models and
OSP-200L system and windows based interface for newer models. The holder uses CAT 40 types and
has 40 tools its carousel.

MEASURING INSTRUMENTS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
• CARL ZEISS CMM – a computerized measuring machine that uses variety of probes that take contact on
the part that is being measured; controlled by a CNC program for a particular part. Capable of measuring
dimensions, diameter, radius, depth, roundness, run-out, parallelism, cylindricity, symmetry, angles and
even gear profile up to an accuracy of 0.00005 of an inch.
• SWISS MICROHITE – a digital measuring instrument used for measuring dimensions, locations,
diameters, symmetry, run out, and angles.
• MILITARY PORT TOOLS – a specially formed gage used in inspecting thread port features.
• MICROMETER CALIPERS – a digital or a mechanical measuring instrument used in inspecting
diameters and thickness of a part with an accuracy of up to 0.0001 of an inch.
• VERNIER CALIPERS – a digital or a mechanical measuring instrument used in quick checking of
diameters and thickness of parts that do not require high accuracy.
• DIGIMATIC INDICATORS – is a measuring instrument used for checking the height or thickness and
depth of a part with an accuracy of 0.0001 of an inch.
• DEPTH MICROMETERS – used in measuring depths and steps.
• THREAD PLUG AND RING GAGES – used in inspecting internal and external threads
• BORE MICROMETERS – used in measuring internal diameters.
• PLUG GAGES – consist of “go” and “no-go” pins, this gage is used for quick checking of hole diameters
that do not require high accuracy.
• OPTICAL COMPARATORS – this measuring instrument uses the shadow produced by the intense light
focused on the part to be measured. It is capable of measuring even small features and angles like fillets
and chamfers.
• TOOLMAKERS’ SCOPE – is a microscope are able to view and measure hole diameters, linear
distances, thread angles, thread pitch, tool edges, tool wear surfaces and small features like fillet radius,
chamfers, and countersinks.

12. • AIR SPINDLE GAUGE – a precision measuring instrument used for measuring small internal diameters
that require high accuracy.
• SURFACE PLATE – a super flat surface used as a reference in inspection and in inscribing.
• PROFILOMETERS – used in inspecting surface finishes.
• TALYROND 290 – a precision instrument used in measuring the roundness of a cylindrical part.
• TALYSURF – a precision instrument used in measuring the surface roughness and profile. It is capable of
measuring tight tolerance surface finish and profile
