La empresa Ritter Sport Nicaragua S.A. inició en el 2012 con el establecimiento de plantaciones de cacao en la Región Autónoma del Caribe Sur de Nicaragua. Esta región fue seleccionada por tener una topografía plana y levemente ondulada que permita un alto grado de mecanización, por existir una pluviosidad donde no fuese necesario invertir en un sistema de riego y por presentar condiciones agroclimáticas favorables para el cultivo de cacao.
