• T-shirts for the Troops Campaign: resulted in media coverage and the donation of over 3,000 t-shirts to
soldiers returning from the field with few personal items on hand.
• Operation Shoebox Campaign: coordinated with educators to encourage students to write letters and mail
packages to service men and women both in the field and at home.
• From Our Hearts to Yours Campaign: student letters, essays, and poems to 9/11 firefighter families were
compiled into books and sent to victim’s families, a campaign that was recognized in the September 11th
Family Association publication, Tribute, in 2004.
• Veterans’ Day Education Campaign: special service to honor veterans, recruited special guests to
participate in the day’s events, and assisted students in creating keepsakes to be distributed to veterans
who attended.

Military Support Volunteer Experience
Volunteer Wounded Warrior Coordinator

• Organize and implement a logistical plan to transport 40-50 wounded veterans and their family members
from Walter Reed Hospital to the Memorial Day and Capitol Fourth Concerts on the Capitol lawn and
receptions that follow.
• Contact each wounded veteran personally to obtain security information and tactfully obtain status of
mobility in order to assure the comfort of the wounded while traveling and viewing the concert.
• Supervise a volunteer team consisting of Navy nurses, American Legion members, and private citizens
who assist guests from arrival until departure.
• Facilitate the meeting and greeting of guest celebrities and wounded soldiers.
Therapy Dogs International
June 2006 to present
• Owner of two registered therapy dogs and member of Therapy Dogs International, a volunteer
organization dedicated to regulating, testing and registration of therapy dogs and their volunteer handlers
for the purpose of visiting nursing homes, hospitals, other institutions and wherever else therapy dogs are
needed.
Walter Reed Army Medical Center
July 2006--May 2009
• Regularly visited Mologne House on the Army hospital campus.
• Cultivated friendships with wounded warriors and family members.
• Organized donations from schools and individuals and distributed them to military families.
• Arranged cookie baking parties that provided dozens of homemade cookies to residents in Mologne
House.
• Worked with the Girl Scouts to collect and distribute hundreds of boxes of Girl Scout Cookies to military
families.
