3. Letter From the Artist This Album reflects a very influential time in my life. It is the summer after my senior year. This period of time had a great impact on who I am as a person today. There were lots of self-realizations and good times to be had. Some of these will probably impact me for the rest of my life and some maybe not. The songs are listed in chronological order because they represent the story of my summer. Looking back this was probably the greatest time of my life. The Past (Graduation), the present (fun), and the future (Virginia Tech) all looked bright, so I was happy as a clam. Also, I was unsure of my major choice for college and everything that happened seemed to reinforce my choice. Anyway, hopefully you have as good of a time listening to it, as I did writing it.

4. Graduation- This song tells the tale of one of the greatest moments in my life. It seemed that all I had worked for had finally amounted at this one moment. Now What- This is a song of self realization. I was tired of the fast scene and wanted to do something more meaningful with my summer. Should I get a job, volunteer, or maybe practice my music a little more and see where that goes. Care free- This song represents the time period after graduation, where I lived life to its fullest, both body and mind. My state of mind was that I was on top of the world and no one could stop me; however, the feeling was short lived… I Do- This song is about one of my good friend’s wedding. He was 25 and was marrying his high school sweet-heart. This sort of brought back a sense of meaning in my summer that seemed to have been lost in the shuffle. I felt I was doing the right thing by just having fun this summer because it could be my last free summer. Spanish Mackerel- This song marks a fun time in my life. I was on vacation with my parents at the Outer Banks. Me and my dad caught this type of fish called a Spanish Mackerel. This confirmed my choice of Fisheries Science as a Major at Virginia Tech. Beach days- This was a period in time that me and my friends would drive down to the beach almost everyday and lounge in the sun for the whole day. The realization that this would be our last summer of fun, we tried to make the most of it by beaching it everyday.

5. Boredom- this song shows my relapse into the feeling that I needed to do more with my summer. I found my self playing my bass all day and doing nothing. Something exciting needed to happen fast! Solo-Plane- this is my answer to the song Boredom. My Aunt and Uncle decided to fly me out to them in California. It was my first time flying on a plane by myself so I was a little nervous, but it was pretty smooth sailing out there. Welcome to California- This song marks the high point of the summer. I got to spend a week enjoying San Francisco. I hiked in the redwoods, surfed the waves ,and enjoyed the California lifestyle for a while. Customer Service reps- This shows a triumphant point in my summer. My plane leaving San Francisco got canceled so I was stranded. I battled the customer service reps and was able to get first class trip back the next day. The Edge of the Brink- This is the few weeks leading up to my departure. It dawned on me and all my friends that this was it, the rest of our lives was ahead of us. We hung out with each other as much as possible. Peace out- this song I me leaving for college . Most of my friends had left already, some had yet to leave. I thought back about how great the summer was and how long it seemed to last. I would have done it no other way.

6. After Thoughts: In Hindsight, I look back at last summer and realize how much of an impact it had on me. I discovered that life is only what you make of it. Specifically, you can not take everything too seriously. You got to have while you can with your friends because most likely you will not see most of them at some point later on in your life and you want to remember the good times. The summer also helped me come to the conclusion that when I grow up , I do not want some desk job, I want to be out and about doing hands on things. That’s why I was looking forward to start Virginia Tech, studying Fisheries Science. Maybe in the future I will come across another crossroads such as this one, but if not I will always remember this point in time where I was living life to the fullest and at the same time, developing into the person I am today.
