Laura Budden evaluates her own media project, a short dance film. She developed some traditional conventions like narrative and music/dance to inform her intended genre and audience. However, she also challenged conventions to create something new. Flashdance influenced her use of varied camera angles. While some creative decisions worked well, like making it a silent film, her message came across as vague when she reviewed it. More close-ups of the dancer may have better conveyed emotions. Combining conventions from different genres and films helped challenge expectations.
Media evaluation
Laura used new media technologies extensively in the construction, research, planning and evaluation of her media project. She used YouTube, Google and her blog to research dance films and analyze conventions. She practiced filming techniques using Premiere Pro. Photoshop was used to create her ancillary texts. Facebook was utilized to gather audience feedback through questionnaires. SlideShare hosted her evaluation. New media allowed for efficient research, planning, production and evaluation throughout the process.

This program trains students in cosmetology skills like hair styling, as well as leadership, communication skills, and knowledge of chemistry and anatomy to prepare them for the Florida cosmetology licensing exam and careers in the cosmetology industry. Students will develop skills to be safe and efficient stylists while gaining employability skills through full-time enrollment and practice.
