(Start Date: 4 January 2016 with min 5 Student’s attending –
R14 900 - Duration: 4 weeks)

This course covers expansion valve systems. Walk in Refrigerators,
under counter fridges and freezer rooms are specialized equipment and
should therefore not be worked on by technicians that do not
understand commercial systems. After completion of this module, a
technician can confidently repair these types of systems.
Outcome:
Expansion valves operating principles, installation and troubleshooting.
Commercial compressor selection and replacement and Service valves
and their operation. Sight glass and fault conditions identified by it.
Liquid receiver, accumulator and commercial filters are explained. The
correct settings for high and low pressure switches.
 Domestic Refrigeration
(Free with the Complete N3 Refrigeration Course)
Domestic Refrigeration is troublesome at times and need specialized
knowledge to repair them. After Completion of this course, you will be
able to repair domestic Refrigerators with confidence. This course
covers theory and practical exercises.
Course requirements: Space is limited to the first five (5) successful
applications. No age limit.

 An Aptitude test
Outcome:
Braze pipes. Operation with diagnostic equipment. Fault diagnosis.
Evacuation principles. Refilling with Refrigerant.
 Compressor Failures& Fitment
(Free with the Complete N3 Refrigeration Course)
This workshop covers the different ways a compressor can fail and the
causes. Learn the correct procedures to follow when replacing a
compressor. Prior knowledge of refrigeration system is required.
Outcome:
Test a compressor electrically and mechanically. Opening a compressor
with a grinder. Use a template to take note of internal conditions. Use a list
of failures to identify the root cause of compressor malfunction. Flushing
the system with R141b to remove oil and burnout residues. Fitting of new
compressor. Evacuate system with a vacuum pump. Refilling the system
with Refrigerant.
 Refrigeration for SalesPeople
(Start Date: in January 2016 - R2 500 - Duration 3 to 5 days)
This course is specifically designed to address the need for sales people to
know about the Refrigeration process and the components of such a
system. Sales people will benefit from this course by knowing their specific
product better which will lead to increased sales.
Outcome:
Learn the basic Refrigeration cycle. Learn about the different components, their
Specifications and intra action in a system. Common problems and solutions.
Basic sales skills and telephone manner.
 Basic Mathematics
(Start Date: January 2016 - R3 000 Duration 20 days – 2 hours per day)
(All Students are welcome, who needs that extra help)
Learn the secrets behind topics such as Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry.
What is an exponent, coefficient and a variable? How does one use the laws of
exponents to solve equations?
These and many more will be solved.
Outcome:
Solve basic equations. When and where to use different exponent laws.
Manipulating of formulas and solving of X. relationship of angles and graphs on
a Cartesian plane (x – y axis). Ratios and functions of trigonometry.
 Air Conditioning Course
(Start Date: in November 2015 with min 5 students attending –
R6 500 Duration: 2 weeks)
(Installation of own Air-Conditioning are included with the Complete
Air-Conditioning Course)
This course is for installers wanting to know more on how to find faults,
servicing and re-gassing of air-conditioning units. This follows the basic
installer’s course.
Outcome:
Servicing schedules and procedures. Test components: compressor, fan
motors, capacitors, power supply and continuity of cables.
Checking and filling the system with refrigerant. Replacing a
compressor. Evacuation procedure with a vacuumpump.
 Installation ofown Air Conditioning
(Included in Complete Air Conditioning Course)
Enter this fascinating field of Air-Conditioning by installing your own or a
friend’s Air-Conditioner as a hobby. A 12000BTU Air-Conditioner is
included in the fee. After completion, you will be able to start installing
Air-Conditioners for that extra pocket money.
Outcome:
Do heat load calculations to determine the size of the Air-Conditioner.
Installation rules and guidelines. Relocation of Air-Conditioner. Air purge,
evacuation and commissioning of an Air-Conditioner.
