THE GREATER SAN FERNANDO VALLEY.
THE
INSTITUTE
FOR
HIGHER EDUCATION
IN TAXATION
Inspired by the Bookstein Institute, in the fall of 2007 the David Nazarian
College of Business and Economics launched an advanced degree in taxation.
The degree was created to meet the needs of those employed in the field of
taxation who may require an advanced degree to achieve their career goals
and to excel in their profession.
The courses and seminars in the 18-month program have been carefully
designed, sequenced and integrated in order to deliver a cutting-edge
program that is narrowly tailored to meet the needs of the mid-career
professional in the field.
The small class size, accredited business school, top-notch faculty,
skills-based curriculum and convenient scheduling have all produced
a truly outstanding program.
The CSUN VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program provides free
tax preparation services to low-income taxpayers in the San Fernando Valley
and beyond. Formed in 1971, CSUN VITA is one of the oldest in the country.
Capitalizing on its extensive experience in providing free tax preparation
services, its engaged student volunteers, its deep ties in the community
and its supportive alumni, CSUN VITA has positioned itself as the largest
provider of free tax preparation services in the San Fernando Valley, serving
hundreds of low-income taxpayers each year.
THETAXCLINIC
The Bookstein Tax Clinic provides free federal tax controversy resolution
services to low-income taxpayers residing throughout the Los Angeles area.
Under the supervision of an experienced tax professional, student clinicians
serve low-income taxpayers who face a dispute with the Internal Revenue
Service. The Bookstein Tax Clinic also provides tax education to taxpayers
not proficient in the English language.
The Bookstein Tax Clinic cultivates young tax accountants who have
a refined sense of responsibility to serve the needs of others.
The CSUN Tax Development Journal sets a new standard in practitioner-based
tax scholarship as an innovative forum for intellectual discourse on emerging
issues for tax practitioners and policymakers. This student-run journal uniquely
combines tax expertise with scholarly discourse to provide timely, insightful
and important contributions to scholarly discussion in a broad array of
topical tax areas.
Through the generous contributions of the Bookstein Institute, the M.S. in Taxation
Program is offering several partial tuition scholarships to deserving students who
demonstrate financial need, excellence and promise.
