Abstract: Over the last years an increasing number of companies worldwide started promoting their Corporate Social Responsibility or CSR strategies because the customers, the public and the investors expect them to act sustainable as well as responsible. This article analysis the meaning of CSR as long as it's effects in Odisha and an attempt to examine the various policies adopted by top Corporate sectors and their role to eliminate the various problem such as poverty, hunger, environmental sustainability, unemployment, gender inequality and protection of national and provincial heritage, art and culture. Under this background, this study reflects the comparative analysis of some major corporate houses like BPSL, MCL, NALCO, TATA and VEDANTA towards CSR expenditure in different districts of Odisha. Among the districts, the maximum CSR spend was in Angul followed by Jajpur and Sundergarh. This article also gives an insight of the recent policy change in respect of CSR with introduction of mandatory Provision - Section 135 on CSR in Companies Act 2013.

A Study on Linkage between Corporate Social Responsibility and Return on Net ...iosrjce
The purpose of the present paper is to study the linkage of CSR initiatives taken by the Indian
companies and its impact on their RONW. For this purpose, various financial parameters have been used like
Return on net worth, profit before tax and earning per share. Researchers have taken a sample of 5 private
companies namely Tata Steel Company, RIL, Mahindra & Mahindra, Infosys and Larsen and Toubro to
examine the relationship between corporate social responsibility and RONR by considering their financial
statement of five years (from March 2010 to March 2014). The logic behind to take such samples is that these
are big private key players with respect to Indian business. After getting all the data, an analysis on the
relationship between CSR and other financial parameters like EPS, PBT and RONR are tested by Regression
analysis and ANOVA. Irrespective of this general outcome, the current study depicts evidence that there is a
insignificant relationship between CSR and Return on Net Worth (RONR) in case of these companies.

This study used quantitative research approaches. Quantitative research is generally associated. Collecting and converting data into numerical form so that statistical calculations can be made and conclusions drawn. This study will employ descriptive research design. The target population used was 100 and sampling procedure used was stratified. The study used primary (collected using questionnaires) and secondary data (trend analysis). To test the validity of the research instruments the questionnaires prepared and submitted to the supervisor and other research experts. In order to test the reliability of the instrument used in this study, the researcher used test retest method. Descriptive and inferential statistics method was used for data analysis and interpretation regression model was used to analyze the effect between variables. The study recommended that companies should ensure effective sustainability programs which include social responsibility, They should also ensure effective social programs are accomplished through cause-related marketing and corporate philanthropy, they should also create initiative which has beneficial relationship between the corporation and society, they should also should ensure corporate governance which is the framework of rules and practices by which a board of directors and embrace accountability, fairness, and transparency in a company's relationship with its stakeholders. For further research the study suggests that more studies should be done on economic social responsibility and corporate governance, economic social responsibility and financial literacy.

As per Basel Action Network (1992) “E-waste encompasses a broad and growing range of electronic devices ranging from large households devices such as refrigerators, cell phones, personal stereos, and consumer electronics to computers which have been discarded by their users.” As per StEP(2005) E-waste refers to “...the reverse supply chain which collects products no longer desired by a given consumer and refurbishes for other consumers, recycles. During mid-late 1970s, it was shifted to employees and unions. 1980s saw explicit pursuit of economic goals with a thin veneer community concern and redefinition of employee rights as the major theme. In the 1990s attention shifted to environmental concern. Slowly, ‘environment reporting’, ‘triple bottom line reporting’, ‘sustainability reporting’ came into light.
Today stakeholders becomes more and more aware of the ecological and social footprints adopted by multinational companies (MNCs) worldwide, accountability, transparency and governance issues are considered to be main stream agenda in the corporate boardroom discussion. Sustainability reporting evaluates the performance of company’s based on three distinct parameters such as economic, environmental and societal. Triple Bottom Line Reporting (subsequently refer to as TBLR) goes beyond the traditional way of reporting mechanism and encourages businesses to give closer attention to the whole impact of their commercial activities, over &above their financial performance. John Elkington strove to measure sustainability during the mid-1990s by encompassing a new framework to measure performance in corporate America. This accounting framework, called the triple bottom line (TBL), went beyond the traditional measures of profits, return on investment, and shareholder value to include environmental and social dimensions. The Corporate Triple Bottom Line (subsequently refer to as CTBL) Reporting is based on three pillars-(i) environmental, (ii) social, (iii) social causes. Corporate Triple Bottom Line (CTBL) disclosure items are handpicked from the annual reports/corporate social responsibility reports of the sample units after a thorough examination of the contents of annual reports/corporate social responsibility reports.

Triple Bottom Line (TBL) is a societal and ecological agreement between the community and
businesses. TBL “captures the essence of sustainability by measuring the impact of an organization’s
activities on the world ... including both its profitability and shareholder values and its social, human
and environmental capital” (Savitz, 2006). TBL is an accounting framework that incorporates three
dimensions of performance: social, environmental and financial. This differs from traditional
reporting frameworks, as besides financial part it also includes ecological (or environmental) and
social measures where it is difficult to assign appropriate means of measurement. But with the
current breakdown of confidence in financial reporting, large companies are facing increasing
demands and expectations from stakeholders and are being held more accountable for their
performance and actions. TBL approach is a proactive step in providing shareholders with increased
transparency and a broader framework for decision-making. It’s a great way for companies to
disclose meaningful non-financial results. TBL dimensions are also commonly called the three Ps:
People, Planet and Profits.
Triple Bottom Line Reporting (TBLR) reflects a corporation’s greater transparency and
accountability in its public reporting, communication and disclosure with regard to how the corporate
entity performs in its environmental, social and economic dimensions (Lewis, 2011). TBLR
incorporates presenting what the business is doing well, along with areas that need improvement.
Reporting in this way demonstrates a drive towards increased transparency, which can mitigate
concerns by stakeholders on hidden information. Everyone involved in the process of TBL, including
employees and external stakeholders, can increase their knowledge of the company and expand their
relationships with other stakeholders in the company. Participating in a learning environment is
beneficial and necessary for a business to meet the goals of sustainability. The process of building a

These goals are often at odds with one another. Skipping computation on vertices which have already converged has the potential to save iteration time. Skipping in-identical vertices, with the same in-links, helps reduce duplicate computations and thus could help reduce iteration time. Road networks often have chains which can be short-circuited before pagerank computation to improve performance. Final ranks of chain nodes can be easily calculated. This could reduce both the iteration time, and the number of iterations. If a graph has no dangling nodes, pagerank of each strongly connected component can be computed in topological order. This could help reduce the iteration time, no. of iterations, and also enable multi-iteration concurrency in pagerank computation. The combination of all of the above methods is the STICD algorithm. into company’s business process. The ever-increasing role of civil
society has started to put pressure on the companies to act in an
economically, socially and environmentally sustainable way.

9. Established in 1958, Hindalco Industries Ltd. is an aluminium manufacturing
company and is a subsidiary of the Aditya Birla Group Its headquarters are at
Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The metals Flagship Company of the Aditya Birla
Group is the world's largest aluminum rolling company and one of the biggest
producers of primary aluminum in Asia. It ranks among the global top five
aluminium producers based on shipments & is a integrated producer with low cost
base and strong presence across the value chain.
The company has annual sales of US$ 15 billion and employs around 20,000
people. It is listed in the Forbes Global 2000 at 895th rank. Its market capitalization
by the end of May 2013 was US$ 3.4 billion.
For over 50 years, Hindalco has worked in the hinterlands of India to
better the quality of life of the underprivileged sections of society. Today, they
have reached out to millions of people in the villages, of whom more than 60
per cent live below the poverty line. Their needs include: access to water,
agriculture and sustainable livelihood, healthcare, and education. The Company
also works to bring about social reform through widow re-marriage and dowry-
less marriages. They work in partnership with government agencies and the
beneficiaries to provide these necessities and encourage social reform.

impact assessment study is carried out by a third party. Their Board of Directors
Management and all of the employees subscribe to the philosophy compassionate
care. They believe on Act, on an ethorse of the generosity and compassion
characterized by the willingness to build a society that works for everyone. This is
the cornerstone of our Corporate Social Responsibility Policy.

money for the CSR activities. In the Financial Year 2013-2014 the
company had spend Rs.11.3064 cores for the CSR related
activities.

further study.
Through CSR it is possible to presents an opportunity to
demonstrate corporate values, distinctiveness, and employee
brand as well as driver governance.
Develop a strategic approach to CSR based on understanding
of the impacts and the tripping in resource shortage or price
rises.
Initiatives through CSR by Indian companies especially in the
Education and Environment Protection.
CSR can play a valuable role in ensuring the invisible hand
acts, as intended, to produce the social good.
19. The present study highlights Corporate Social Responsibility
(CSR) is a tool that promotes, besides profit making,
empowerment of members of the community as a way of
giving back to them. CSR is an important inclusive concept
which has forced organizations to involve stakeholders in their
decision-making. In other words, while it is justifiable for a
company to make a profit, it should do more than that by
being philanthropic, by doing more for society and by
complying with the laws that govern that country, including
caring for the environment. Focus areas that have emerged as
per the CSR activities of Hindalco are Education, Health care,
Sustainable livelihood, Infrastructure development, and
espousing social causes. They believe and act on the
generosity and compassion characterized by the willingness to
build a society that works for everyone. This is the
cornerstone of our Corporate Social Responsibility Policy.
