The speed and flexibility of 844/X has allowed Dennis Media
Group to expand the kind of work they do, as well as save
them time and money while insuring that their branding is up to
par. “Before 844/X, any promos that we wanted to produce
were usually hired out to third parties; now we produce them
ourselves and get them out faster,” said Phoenix. “We are
essentially a three-man operation, and 844X has really become
almost a fourth person in this office because it has allowed
the productivity level of our work to increase that much.”
For instance, DMG recently produced a media blitz for the
Maxim Hot 100 which included, among other things, online
promotion, a one-hour special on NBC, a star-studded party
in Los Angeles, and a special supplement in the Maxim
magazine. “One of the trickier portions of this project was the
Maxim Hot 100 party in Los Angeles,” said Brian Oakes,
Creative Director. “It was our responsibility to capture and edit
footage and sound bites of the red carpet and get that up to a
satellite that evening in only two to three hours for pick up on
shows like Access Hollywood and Entertainment Tonight. We
could not have done it without 844X. The footage looked great,
told a great story, and made it out to a nationwide news
audience the night it happened. That was unreal!”
844X has taken Dennis Publishing to another level as far
as their quality of work goes. “We started editing with the
Media 100 i system, and once we upgraded to 844/X, the
compatibility with the graphics has really improved. We can
deliver more by being able to work faster and have more time
to experiment creatively working within one system,” said
Phoenix. “We use programs such as Illustrator®
, PhotoShop®
and After Effects®
– for 844/X we can import whatever we
need as fast as we need it, with no hassles and no
headaches,” says Oakes. “It has made a huge difference
in our work.”
“Everybody wants to have a great-looking product, and we were
always looking at the video we were doing and saying, 'Why
doesn't it look like what we're seeing on television or in film?’”
said Chris Phoenix. “As soon as we got 844X, we noticed a
drastic difference in the way everything was appearing. Color
correction, transitions, edits and geometrics can all be done in
real time. Everything we create looks 100 percent better. And
we owe all of that to 844X.”
“Maxim and Stuff are about great-looking product, beautiful
women… a really smart magazine with a lot of attitude and a
really strong brand,” said Phoenix. “We needed images in
motion that are just as strong, just as vibrant, and just as
powerful as the magazine, and 844X has given us that.
