Paulo Coelho is a Brazilian writer born in 1947 known for his novel The Alchemist. The Alchemist tells the story of Santiago, a shepherd who travels to Egypt in search of treasure. Along the way he encounters various obstacles but also learns lessons from different people he meets. The book has been translated into 56 languages and has had a profound impact on millions of readers by giving them hope and encouragement to follow their dreams.
