OAuth is an open standard for authorization that allows third party applications to access user information from an API provider, such as Twitter or Google, without requiring the user's credentials. It works through a process called the OAuth dance where a request token is exchanged for an authorized access token that can be used to access resources. Bulgaria is located in Southeastern Europe on the Balkan Peninsula. It was part of the Roman Empire in the 1st century AD and later the Byzantine Empire. In the 6th century, many Slavs migrated to the region and mixed with the local Bulgar people to form the Bulgarian people. Bulgaria was a powerful independent empire for 300 years that could rival the Byzantine Empire. After World War 2, Bulgaria fell under Soviet control and became a communist state until 1990 when it transitioned to a multiparty democracy and market economy. Bulgaria later joined NATO in 2004 and the European Union in 2007.

Silicon Valley Code Camp 2010: Social Platforms : What goes on under the hoodManish Pandit
In this session I'd share the design, architecture and implementation of some of the most common elements of any social platform - Open API, profiles, searches, lists and activity streams. These "pillers" of a social platform bear most of the weight behind a jazzy UI, and scaling them has its own challenges. I will also talk about how we built the Social Platform at IGN from ground up, including not-so-unique challenges like integration with legacy systems.
Stephan Augustin, a designer at BMW AG, created a simple solar-powered seawater desalination device called the Watercone to provide clean water for the 2.5 billion people without access. It took several years of experimenting with shapes and production methods to develop a device that could be made from two pieces through mass production at low cost. The final Watercone design is made from a single piece of polycarbonate using a vacuum forming process.

It mentions exploring different colors as well to see which pair best with the selected font. The document concludes it will try out the various fonts being considered for the magazine splash page to see which looks best.
The document discusses socially responsible business practices relating to the environment, community involvement, human resources, and financial integrity. It provides examples of actions businesses can take, such as minimizing their carbon footprint, partnering with environmentally conscious suppliers, allowing employee volunteering, and ensuring financial reporting and controls. Arguments for and against social responsibility are presented, noting it can improve performance but also increase costs. References are provided on topics like business integrity, preventing unethical practices, and fostering financial responsibility.

Global warming is defined as the increase in the average temperature of Earth. It is caused by industrialization and the emission of greenhouse gases from burning fossil fuels. The effects of global warming include a drastic rise in temperatures, rising sea levels, wild weather conditions, and melting glaciers. To prevent further global warming, we must adopt alternative energy sources, conserve energy through efforts like recycling, and engage in reforestation. Urgent action is needed now to address this threat.
The document summarizes a student group project analyzing the lifestyles of Flagler College students through a survey. The group collected data from 97 respondents on activities, work schedules, class schedules, living situations and more. They analyzed the data through statistical methods like proportions, histograms, box plots and comparison graphs. Their findings showed popular activities like the beach and gym, and that most students visited Flagler 1-2 times before attending and take 12-18 credit hours per semester.
The document discusses the future of connectivity and its implications. It predicts that by 2020, 50 billion devices will be connected globally through ubiquitous wireless connectivity. This will enable new services but also pose challenges around security, privacy, and managing personal identity online. Connectivity will also play a key role in addressing issues like sustainability and labor scarcity by enabling technologies like machine-to-machine communication and teleworking. However, the impact will depend on factors like how fast networks can expand to rural areas. The future may see a hybrid model where both independent network providers and brands delivering online services directly to consumers co-exist.

MongoSF 2011 - Using MongoDB for IGN's Social PlatformManish Pandit
Using MongoDB for IGN’s Social Platform
IGN uses MongoDB to power its social platform which receives 30M API calls and 7M activities daily. MongoDB is used to store activity streams, comments, notifications and other social data. Some challenges include large amounts of data, sorting activities in reverse order, and filtering activities. Caching of activity streams in Memcached improved performance. Monitoring, backups, and tools like MMS are used to manage the MongoDB deployment. Future plans include moving more data to MongoDB and sharding relationships across servers.
