The document provides an overview of the history and origins of the Holy Rosary. It discusses how the Rosary began as Christians imitating monks by praying 150 Hail Marys instead of Psalms. It describes apparitions of Mary to St. Dominic and Blessed Alan de la Roche promoting devotion to the Rosary. It outlines the 15 mysteries of the Rosary and how St. Dominic arranged them. It discusses the Feast of Our Lady of Rosary being established after victory in the Battle of Lepanto in 1571 was attributed to Mary. Finally, it shares the 15 promises given by Mary regarding faithfully praying the Rosary.
This presentation was used in my church as an adult educational seminar to help congregants understand the use of prayer beads for a study on the impact of prayer on resilience.

The Rosary is one of the most beloved and distinctive Roman Catholic prayers. The prayer has a long tradition in history, but is remarkably modern, at least by Catholic standards.
"Realize the power in your hand with the Rosary, for in your hands you hold the power of God. If you do not recognize the Rosary, can you expect to be recognized by My Son? How much can you expect? Why do you hide My Rosary? It was with a Mother's loving heart that I chose to give you these pearls of Heaven that you reject.
"Woe to all dedicated who seek to remove these from the little ones' hands, for their punishment will be metered in accordance to it!
"Why has sophisticated man cast aside these tokens of My love? Those who remain true to My Rosary will not be touched by the fires. Gather these treasures, My children, for the time will come that you will not find them on the counters of your stores." - Our Lady of the Roses, October 6, 1970.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Renewed in Grace
The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.
2. Praying with knotted cords
The laity imitating the Christian
Monasticism, monks prayed the
150 Psalms daily
Problem:
Many of the laity and even lay
monastics could not read,
Resolution:
They substituted 150 repetitions
of the Our Father (The Lord’s
Prayer or Pater noster in Latin) for
the Psalms, sometimes using a
cord with knots on it to keep an
accurate count.

3. Mother Mary’s Apparition
to St. Dominic
In the year 1214,
In the church of Prouille
St. Dominic, a holy man
Mary appeared to him and said, "Dear
Dominic, do you know which weapon
the Blessed Trinity wants to use to
reform the world? In this warfare, the
main weapon is the Angelic Psalter
(Rosary) which is the foundation stone of
the New Testament.“
Reason of Apparition:
Blessed Trinity wants to reform the
world by praying the Angelic Psalter. 3
4. Angelic Psalter
Is also known as
Jesus and Mary Psalter
St. Dominic made the Psalter of Jesus
and Mary easier to say by arranging the
repeated prayers into three parts of five
mysteries each.
The Joyful Mysteries recall the events in
the early life of Jesus
The Sorrowful Mysteries tell of the
suffering and death of Jesus
The Glorious Mysteries describe God's
glory, power and love.

5. On October 16, 2002, Pope John
Paul II, declared that the
following year will be the “Year
of the Rosary”. For the first time
in centuries, a change was made
in the rosary. The Pope added
and defined 5 new mysteries
that concerned the events in the
public life of Jesus. These new
mysteries were called the or
“Luminous Mysteries”
“Mysteries of Light”.
5
6. The Rosary encourages both
mental meditations on each of the
Mysteries, and the vocal recitation
of the Our Father,
ten Hail Marys, and one Glory Be.
6
7. St. Dominic began to preach
devotion to the Holy Rosary,
and formed a Confraternity to
encourage its daily use.
Problem:
The popularity of this devotion
spread for about one hundred
years, but then started to
decline (weaken)
7
8. Resolution:
In the year 1460
Blessed Alan de la Roche,
a Dominican
In a Mass one day when Our Lord spoke
to him in the Sacred Host. He said,
"Alan, you have crucified Me once by
your earlier sins, and now you are doing
it again because I have given you the
knowledge you need, but you are not
preaching My Mother's Rosary. Since
you are not doing this, you are guilty of
the sins which others commit."
8
9. This warning led Blessed Alan to
preach about the Rosary at every
opportunity. Devotion to the Rosary
began to spread again, and continues
to this day.

Pope Pius V campaign to pray the Rosary
while the Holy league is on their way to
battle against the Ottoman Empire.
The Victory of Holy League is attributed
by Pope Pius V to Mother Mary that’s
why he called Her Our Lady of Victory and
soon changed into Our Lady of Rosary.

14. October 7th 1571 - October 7th 2016
445th Feast of Our Lady of Rosary
Year 1214 - 2016
802nd year Praying using the Rosary
14
15. Rosary from the latin word Rosarium
Which means “Crown of Roses”
Each time we say a Hail Mary we are giving
her a beautiful rose and that each complete
Rosary makes her a crown of roses.
The Holy Rosary is considered a perfect
prayer because within it lies the awesome story of
our salvation.
With the Hail Mary we invite Her to pray for
us. Our Lady always grants our request. She joins
Her prayer to ours.
Jesus can never say no to His Mother.
15
16. The Rosary as a powerful weapon against
evil, to bring us to true peace.
With our prayer made together with our
heavenly Mother, we can obtain the great
gift of bringing about a change of hearts and
conversion.
Each day, through prayer we can drive away
from ourselves and from our homeland
many dangers and many evils.
16
18. 1. Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the
rosary, shall receive signal graces.
2. I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all
those who shall recite the rosary.
3. The rosary shall be a powerful armor against hell, it will
destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies.
4. It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain
for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the
heart of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and
will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls
would sanctify themselves by this means.
5. The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of
the rosary shall not perish.
18
19. 6. Whoever shall recite the rosary devoutly, applying himself to
the consideration of its sacred mysteries, shall never be
conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His
justice, he shall not perish by an unproved death; if he be just he
shall remain in the grace of God, and become worthy of eternal
life.
7. Whoever shall have a true devotion for the rosary shall not die
without the sacraments of the Church.
8. Those who are faithful to recite the rosary shall have, during
their life and at their death, the light of God and the plenitude of
His graces; at the moment of death they shall participate in the
merits of the saints in paradise.
9. I shall deliver from purgatory those who have been devoted to
the rosary.
10. The faithful children of the rosary shall merit a high degree of
glory in heaven.
19
20. 11. You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation
of the rosary.
12. All those who propagate the holy rosary shall be
aided by me in their necessities.
13. I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the
advocates of the rosary shall have for intercessors the
entire celestial court during their life and at the hour of
death.
14. All who recite the rosary are my sons, and brothers
of my only son Jesus Christ.
15. Devotion of my rosary is a great sign of
predestination.
20
21. “When you pray, Do not babble like pagans
with their many words, for they believe that
the more they say, the more chance they
have of being heard.” Matthew 6:7
Why REPETITIVE?
Even Jesus do the same at Gethsemane
“So, leaving them again, he went away and
prayed for the third time, saying the same
words again.” – Matthew 26:44
21
22. The Jews who wanted to be noticed
and praised by people were told by
Jesus because of their hypocrisy and
pride while praying. This is what Our
Lord really means when He says
“empty phrases or babbling”
22
23. Passages in the Bible where repeated prayers are
mentioned:
Command:
“Pray without ceasing and give thanks to
God at every moment.” 1 Thess. 5:17
Obedience:
“…day and night they sing without ceasing:
‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God…’” Rev. 4:8
23
24. Challenge!
Rosary should be part of our prayer life.
We should Pray and Meditate as a family
Because…
The family that pray the Rosary together,
Sticks together.
24
