INTRODUCTION
The researcher conducted a project titled Pakchoy Production over a period of 12 weeks at Saint
Stanislaus on Brickdam. During this time frame the student was involved in a variety of activities
in the planting and maintenance of the crop as it grew.
DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES
Weeding- Cutlasses were used to clear the beds of grass.
Forking-Forks were used to upturn and loosen the soil
Chipping- The cutlasses were used to further loosen the soil.
Planting-Seedlings were planted into the prepared beds.
Pulling out of weeds- Weeds and grasses from around the crops were pulled out.

MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT USED
 Cutlass
 Shovel
 Gardening fork
 Watering can
 Gloves

were cut by use of cutlasses
Wenesday,12th February 2014 Forking Soil was loosened with
Gardening forks
Thursday,13th February 2014 Chipping Additional loosening of soil
was done by using cutlasses
Friday,14th February 2014 Planting Seedlings were planted on
plots
Friday,28th February 2014 Pulling out Weeds Weeds that grew around the
crops were removed.

= $ 2400 - $ 375
= $2025
ANALYSIS
Comparison of Projected and Actual Income
The researcher calculated that his projected income from this project would be $2400. This
estimation was very accurate as the researcher indeed saw an actual income of $2400 upon
selling all of the bundles. This was so due to the accurate calculations of the researcher of the
market price as well as his ability to sell all bundles in the given timeframe. The researcher did
not witness a shortfall.
Comparison of Projected and Actual Expenditure
The researcher calculated that he would have to spend an estimated $360 for this project. In
actuality this proved to be a slight miscalculation as the actual cost proved to be a total sum of
$375. The miscalculation was due to the cost of the seedlings being slightly greater than the
estimated cost calculated by the researcher ($125 instead of $120 per bundle) The researcher
experienced a small difference of $15 between his projected and actual expenditure.
Comparison of Projected Surplus and Actual Surplus
Upon all calculations the researcher estimated a surplus of $2040 dollars. This was not the case
as upon actually spending $375 on this product and receiving an income of $2400 the researcher
witnessed a surplus of $2025 which was a slight short fall of his estimated $2040 by $15. The
difference was due to a slightly greater price for seedlings than estimated.
General comments
This project was a great experience.
This project was considered to be successful as a vast amount of knowledge was gained on how
to properly plant as well as care for crops, as well as how to sell them.
Recommendation
The researcher would like to recommend that others pursue this project as it is a great
experience. The researcher would also like to recommend that persons who are doing this project
set realistic goals and projections so as they would be able to meet their goal and experience a
surplus.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion the researcher completed the project pakchoy production over the course of 12
weeks. He was able to make a surplus as all efforts were reward with a excess of $2025 in cash
generated.
