This document provides an overview of a university lecture on the different senses of the word "law". It discusses six main senses: natural laws, which describe regularities in nature; civil/statutory laws, which are man-made laws that prescribe behavior; customary laws, which regulate behavior in communities; moral laws, which are presumed to be universal; logical laws, which guide reasoning; mathematical laws, which regulate mathematical operations; and divine laws, whose contents come from religious doctrines. The lecture aims to help students understand and distinguish between these different types or senses of law.
