Uses & Gratifications Theory, Leading Discussion, Fardin Ayar.pdfAfghanistan
The belief that the use of media depends on the satisfaction, need, desire or motivation of each audience is almost as old as media research. Audiences are often formed based on the similarity of individual needs, interests and tastes, which have a social or psychological origin.
This way of thinking is belonging to the school of research called (use and gratification or interest and satisfaction) (McQuoid).
This approach was first described in an article by Katz (1959), which Katz began with the question, "What do people do with the media?"

Leading Discussion, Agenda Setting, Fardin Ayar.pdfAfghanistan
Agenda-setting is commonly understood as a model that links the salience or priority of Despite these reservations about priming reissues in the media with the priorities of the search, in contrast to agenda-setting, it is often public (Kosicki, 1993).
Agenda setting is the process by which problems and alternative solutions gain or lose public attention and the attention of elected officials (Birkland 1997, 2006). Agenda setting is a fluid, dynamic process in which problem, policy, and political streams couple and uncouple in an effort to link problems to solutions.
Agenda Setting Theory originated in Walter Lippmann’s 1922 classic, Public Opinion. In the first chapter, Lippmann establishes the principal connection between world events and the images in the public mind (Lippmann, 1922). In 1963, Bernard Cohen noted that the media “may not be successful much of the time in telling people what to think, but it is stunningly successful in telling its readers what to think about.
Synthesis and Culture Paradigm Debates, Fardin Ayar.pdfAfghanistan
The discussion on geo-cultural theory has underscored the urgency for us to re-examine the way cultural differences are handled in academic discourse. Boundaries need to be drawn, because European universality neglects cultural and also paradigm differences.
The critique of Euro–American centrism in communication theories has in recent years led to calls for Afrocentric/Asiacentric approaches to research, and the emergence of geo-cultural theories.
Therefore, boundaries need to be drawn, because the problem with European universality is not merely a matter of neglecting cultural, but paradigm differences as well.
