Investigated home and commercial burglaries. Developed rapport with local businesses
(e.g., pawnshops) and residents. Was in charge of all pawnshops and secondhand
dealerships in Oceanside. Evaluated patrol officer reports to determine authenticity of
crime, suspects, and property location. Conducted multiple interviews with victims,
witnesses, and suspects to develop leads. Matched crime patterns in open and closed
cases. Utilized criminal databases and computer searches to locate suspects. Conducted
interviews to either obtain confession or eliminate lines of defense, often obtaining an
apology letter to the victim in the process. Prepared detailed reports covering every facet
of the crime, victims, witnesses, and suspects, and submitted criminal charges to the San
Diego County District Attorney’s Office. Worked closely with the District Attorney’s
Office to successfully prosecute cases and testify in court when needed. Typically
managed a caseload of 15 to 20 cases. Conducted and assisted field officers, Special
Enforcement Section, Parole, and Probation in residential searches to find suspects and/or

Detective, 2005 to 2008 Family Protection Unit
I investigated domestic violence, rapes, child molestation, child abuse, and sexual
assaults. Established rapport with victims and developed leads through extensive
interviews. I prepared detailed reports for the District Attorney’s Office leading to
successful prosecutions. Worked closely with victims to help them maintain the courage
to press charges, and explained The Circle of Violence philosophy to them.

Investigated crimes in the Oceanside Unified School District, which is comprised of
approximately 20,000 students and 2,000 employees. Established rapport and interviewed
juveniles. Determined school vulnerabilities, created emergency response plan, and
taught plan curriculum to the entire school staff. Met regularly with school district
supervisor and school principals to increase school safety and security.
Patrol Officer.
Handled calls for service. Covered a beat with complete responsibility for assigned area. I
established rapport with local residents and businesses. Followed up on crime patterns
and unusual occurrences.
Captain in the United States Marine Corps, 1977 to 1988.
Supervised up to 200 Marines in logistics, training, and combat efficiency. In charge of
Marine’s day–to–day lives both on and off base. Managed colonel's personal
correspondence and administration for the First Marine Amphibious Brigade in Kaneohe,
Hawaii. Wrote battalion orders and maintained battalion records. I Managed the Top
Secret vault and material inventory for the Brigade.
