The lesson plan introduces students to the topic of youth employment in France by having them note the key terms, personalize it through questions, and provide socio-political context. A PowerPoint presentation with vocabulary exercises is followed by a video activity where students make predictions, watch twice, and discuss in pairs. Finally, a full class discussion takes place.

1. CPE LESSON PLAN
Overview:
1. On the board note the topic and subtopic:
Ex: problèmes sociaux; travail/emploi; jeunes; CPE (contrat première embauche) and
check for comprehension.
2. Next, try to personalize the topic by asking the students a few questions
Ex: How many of you work? In France only 45% of youth work. How does this
compare to what we are used to here in the United States?
3. Finally, briefly introduce the topic within its socio-political context.

1. “Listen and repeat” for the vocabulary in the presentation.
2. Include questions to students (some exercises/questions are imbedded in the
presentation).
