COVID-19 stands for coronavirus disease 2019. It is caused by a new coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2. The first cases were identified in Wuhan, China in December 2019. On January 30, 2020, the WHO declared COVID-19 a public health emergency. The first case in Pakistan was reported on February 26, 2020. Common symptoms include fever, dry cough, and tiredness while serious symptoms include difficulty breathing. To prevent spread, one should clean hands, maintain distance from others, wear a mask, and stay home if unwell.
