AftermyBachelorsIstartedworkingat TOX PressotechnikaGerman multinational companywhoare
into machine building and press technology. I worked at TOX for a year as a trainee in the design
department. During that period I gained insight in the field of commercial machine designing,
pneumatics, hydraulics, press technology, ergonomics in industrial machines. I also gained
professional experience in using Pro-E as a design tool in the automotive industry. I was part of
designingsome machinelinesproducedatTOXfor customerssuchas Lear, Magna Rico etc.I alsogot
the opportunitytoprepare designproposalsand cost estimates of machine linesforthe customers.
My firststintas a biomedical engineerwasduringmy firstyear Masters,when for the DesignProject
I worked along with Dr. Maurice Mommaerts of European Face Center, UZ Brussels to develop a
concept design for Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Prosthesis. During the project I worked with
Mimics innovationsuite and 3-matic software packagesfor the developmentof the concept design.
Duringthis projectI alsogot the opportunitytowork withthe clinicians,Ihadthe opportunitytosee
some surgeries and also gained some knowledge in the field of maxillofacial implants and surgical
techniques. I also had the opportunity to 3D print the prototypes of the concept design developed
during the work.
Duringthe summerbreakafterthe firstyearof Masters,I didaninternshipat Mobelife(Materialise),
where I workedwiththe casesdepartment.Duringthe 6 weeksof internshipmyworkwas mostlyto
understandand optimise the designworkflowandstepsfollowedatMobelife. Duringmyinternship,
I got the opportunity to further improve my skills in 3-matic software package. I developed a new
database for Mobelife implants. I suggested possible ways to improve the design workflow. Again I
got a hand on experience with 3-matic. My work also included the possibility to check the
repeatability and accuracy of parts produced by additive manufacturing.
I did my Master’s Thesis at Nobel Biocare, industry leadersindental implants.My thesiswas aimed
at characterising the strength of the surgical templates or guides used during surgical drilling and
implantsinsertion.Firstpart of my thesisinvolveda theoretical approach where Isolvedsome basic
analytical equations of beam theory to come up with basic model of the loading scenarios. In the
secondhalf of my thesisI used FEA (Abaqus 6.14) to determine the maximumvon misesstress and
maximum principal strain acting on the template during different cases and procedures involved in
the surgery.I alsoperformedathorough mesh convergence analysis to determine the optimalmesh
size for the analysis.
To sumit up I have a strong background in Mechanical and Biomedical Design.I have had hands on
experience of working with some of the mechanical and biomedical design and FEA software
packages used in the industry like Pro-E WF4, Catia V5, Autodesk Inventor, Abaqus, Mimics

2. Innovation suite and 3-matic. I have the experience of working in an MNC like TOX where I gained
professional experience not only in Designing but in working closelywith customers to make design
proposals and cost estimation there by working as a link pin between the sales department of our
companyandourcustomers. Ihave hadthe experienceofworkingwithexperiencedclinicians during
my course work. I have decent level of expertise in working with maxillofacial and orthopaedic
