This course syllabus outlines an Exploring Prose and Poetry class, including general information, course description, objectives, learning indicators, course outline, learning strategies, assignments, assessment, and references. The 6-credit, semester-long course is taught in the English Department and discusses the concepts, kinds, elements and analysis of poetry as well as composing, reciting, and teaching poetry. Students will read poetry, discuss poems, write analyses, and recite poems with the goal of understanding different types of poetry and analyzing poems using various approaches.
