5. Why’d the whistle blow?
Knock-on Offside
• Happens when ball goes • When you are in front of
forward the ball, and make a play
• Throwing, or hitting it • Get back to your side of ball
forward = knock-on • Put hands in the air,
• Okay to kick it forward signaling your awareness of
offside
6. The Tackle
• Get as low as you
can
• Wrap your arms
around the player
• Pull opponent to
ground

• Object: win the ball
• Rake back with foot
• Bind on with
teammate, push
against other team
8. The Scrum
• Each team’s pack
comes together to
fight for possession
• Scrumhalf rolls ball
in middle
• Can be a result of
offside call or
knock-on
