The journeys taken by trans heroes weave in and out of Joseph Campbell’s classic pattern, but deviate from it in specific ways. The hero often fears discovery by the close community, but nonetheless departs on the adventure—leaving a place of dangers to find a refuge and community of acceptance. Talismans include gendered tools that show the mentor's acceptance of the hero's real identity. The romance is likewise a guided path to selfhood and affirmation. Villains are the transphobes of real life, mythologized and made deadlier. In happier stories, the parent figures learn from the conflict, and finally seek reconciliation. Top franchises like Steven Universe, The Matrix, The Umbrella Academy, Sense8, Sandman, DC, and Marvel demonstrate these tropes, as do recent top fantasy books and graphic novels by nonbinary authors worldwide. The tales end with the hero wielding the dual worlds in a way beyond anything Campbell observed, which nonetheless fits the patterns of the oldest myths.

They learned how to use a blog to upload coursework, requiring learning how to embed videos and links. Filming taught the author about equipment needs like cameras, lights, and microphones. Editing in Final Cut Pro was initially challenging but became easier with practice and YouTube tutorials, teaching transitions, audio editing, and titles. Music editing was also done in Virtual DJ Pro 7. Overall, the author feels proficient in these new technologies thanks to experiences during this project.
Looking back at your preliminary task
Through completing the preliminary editing task and final film opening task, the document's author learned much about filmmaking techniques. The preliminary task helped them become more aware of shot types, matching actions, and using different camera angles. It also taught them to plan shots carefully and have backup equipment, as they missed a key shot during the preliminary task. From editing the preliminary task, the author gained experience with video editing software. Overall, the biggest lesson was that film projects require extensive planning of shots, schedules, costumes and props to execute them efficiently.
