- What is Product Design? It‘s a combination of applied art and science. It‘s aimed to improve the aesthetic, ergonomics and usability of mass-produced products.
- A successful Product Design manages to reveal useful functionality beyond its appealing form. No matter how excellent a design looks like, most customers aren‘t likely to spend money on something they won‘t be able to use. On the other hand, most people are likely to buy something useful despite the design it has.
- What would be considered as a „good“ product? Theoretically speaking, of course...
- What is Crocs? Crocs is a U.S. Footwear brand that has found a fanbase in Japan and other countries for its supposedly comfortable and flexible materials that can easily grip onto surfaces.
- Why is it bad? They came in every colors imaginable, yet look bad with every other article of clothing ever created.
- Why (despite its ugliness) people buy it? Why it was such a success?

- Why (despite its ugliness) people buy it? Why it was such a success? The Crocs Company started as a marketing and distribution company in US. At 2005, it built its first (and only) factory in Canada. Over the next three years, the company built and outsourced factories in China, India, Brazil, Mexico and Eastern Europe. They also keep the production cost low by locating the supply chain globally. Their products are available through various distribution channels, traditional footwear retailers, sporting goods and outdoor retailers, departement stores, uniform suppliers, gift shops, health and beauty stores and catalogs. They even sell their products in kiosk located in places with heavy traffics!
- What is Apple iMac Mouse? Released with the iMac in 1998 and included with all successive desktop Macs for the next 2 years, the round "Hockey puck" USB mouse is widely considered one of Apple's worst mistakes.
- Why is it bad? From an aesthetic standpoint, the puck mouse nicely complements the curvaceous iMac. But from a user perspective, iz‘s incredibly frustating to move the mouse one way and have the cursor go another, simply because there is absolutely no tactile feedback to let you know that you‘re not holding it straight. 99,99% of the product target user base has elogated hands as opposed to being round. This design is one of the ultimates in function losing to form.
- What is Apple Mighty Mouse? Under pressure to sell a generic two button mouse with a scroll wheel, Apple surprised the industry in 2005 by making a mouse with touchpad-like controls, and featured a trackball in lieu of a scrollwheel.
- What is Apple Mighty Mouse? On 12 October 2005, Apple began shipping a Mighty Mouse with every iMac.
- Why is it bad? It caused a lot of accidental clicks! Since the „buttons“ are completely touch-sensitive, a right-click can be interpreted as a left-click, or if the user has his hand over the left part of touch sensitive areas and is trying to attempt a right-click. The scroll ball gathers dust and become unresponsive over time. It doesn‘t support mouse chording (perform actions when multiple buttons are held down), therefore it can‘t be used by CAD softwares, games and other applications where multiple functions are mapped to the mouse.
- Why is it bad? To those who say you have to learn how to hold it in your palm or with your fingertips, I remind you that Apple has always promoted the mouse as an intuitive input device. A mouse should not require training!

- What is a PS3? PS3 is a video game console produced by Sony Computer Entertainment and the successor to the PlayStation 2 as part of the PlayStation series. It has an online gaming service. It supports Blu-ray disk, DVD, CD, even PS and PS2 game disc. It enables user to install another OS alongside the main system software.
