The group volunteered at the St. Thomas of Canterbury Soup Kitchen in Chicago. They served soup, bread, drinks and dessert to 120-170 people. The experience was eye-opening for the group as they saw firsthand the challenges faced by those living in poverty or experiencing homelessness. It reinforced their appreciation for the resources and opportunities available to them as Loyola students. The group felt the work was meaningful and they were able to connect with some of the people served. Brian in particular enjoyed having a conversation with one man who just wanted someone to listen to him. The experience left them feeling grateful for the food and education they have access to daily.
