Centrum Duurzaam organiseerde tijdens de open dagen 2015 korte lezingen over beroepsbeelden techniek en bouw voor de bezoekers. Acht bedrijven vertelden scholieren en ouders over de praktijk van elke dag. Met deze presentaties wilde Centrum Duurzaam met jongeren nadenken over de vraag: wat doe jij over 5 jaar? Een oproep om te kiezen voor techniek en bouw.
Durf jij te kiezen voor techniek?
Om te weten wat een jongere over 5 jaar doet is een juist beroepsbeeld heel belangrijk. Marc Mulder van Pranger en Rosier stond stil bij een aantal praktische vragen zoals hoe ruimtes worden verwarmd. Of hoe het licht gaat branden. Techniek zit in alles wat we doen. Nu en in de toekomst is er een grote behoefte aan mensen in de techniek. De kansen op een leuke baan zijn groot en er zijn voortdurend nieuwe kansen en ontwikkelingen.
Werknemer of ondernemer?
ABELson, ASN Dokkum, IdFrm, Jorritsma Bouw, Led Factory, MG Electronics en Tryn 3D spraken over ondernemerschap en werknemer zijn. Het is belangrijk om eerst de juiste keuze te maken voor wat betreft de studierichting. ROC Friese Poort biedt studenten in het Centrum Duurzaam met het Duurzaam Doen Huis en de innovatiewerkplaats voldoende mogelijkheden om een vakopleiding te kiezen die kansen biedt om in de toekomst een keuze te maken om of als ondernemer/zzp’er of als werknemer aan de slag te gaan. ‘Plezier in het vak moet voorop staan. Werk hard aan een goede basis tijdens de opleiding voor een toekomst in de techniek en bouw’, aldus Jan Adema van IdFrm.

Isolation and Identification of Pathogenic Bacteria in Edible Fish: A Case St...International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR)
Aquaculture products can harbor pathogenic bacteria which are part of the natural microflora of the environment. A study was conducted aiming at the isolation of human pathogenic bacteria in gills, intestines, mouth and the skin of apparently healthy fish, Tilapia rendali and Oreochromic mossambicus, from the Fletcher dam. Bacterial pathogens associated with fish can be transmitted to human beings from fish used as food or by handling the fish causing human diseases. Differentiation and characterization of various isolates was based on their growth characteristics on specific culture media (biochemical and gram staining reactions). The following human pathogenic bacteria were isolated Salmonella typhi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Vibrio cholerae, Shigella dysenteriae and Enterococcus faecalis. All the bacterial species which were isolated from the fish were also present in the initial water samples collected. The isolation of enteric bacteria in fish serves as indicator organisms of faecal contamination and or water pollution. Their presence also represents a potential hazard to humans. The mean bacterial load of the isolates was found to be markedly higher than the recommended public health and standard value of 5.0 x 106 CFU/ml which has been adopted by many countries.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software Fuzzing
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall.
