This document discusses a study that assessed the ability of CBCT and panoramic radiography (PR) to interpret lesions in the maxillofacial area. It found that the two modalities showed close agreement in depicting lesion location, internal structure, and effects on teeth. However, CBCT provided more information than PR for features like expansion beyond anatomical boundaries and cortical bone destruction, which helps with differential diagnosis and surgical planning. The study concluded CBCT is more accurate than PR for interpreting maxillofacial lesions.
