3. British Empire conduct on June 24th 1911, at Cristal Palace at
name of Festival of Empire Games. In this game only four
countries participated Australia (comprising Australia, New
Zealand and Tasmania, South Africa, Canada and United
Kingdom.

change to The British Empire and Commonwealth in 1954 to

In 1966 Commonwealth game held at Kingston (Jamaica) India had the honor of 3
Gold, 4 Silver and 4 Bronze Medals.
In 1970 addition of Commonwealth Games of Edinburgh (Scotland) Indian Wrestler
establish there domination by winning 5 Gold, 3 Silver and 1 Bronze Medals.

• Birmingham was announced as host on 21 December
2017. The Games marked England's third time hosting the
commonwealth Games after London 1934 and Manchester
2002 and the 7th Games held in the united kingdom with
previous event in Wales and Scotland.

8. The Commonwealth Games Federation
The Commonwealth Games Federation has 71 country members
currently split into 6 regions of Africa, Americas, Asia, Caribbean,
Europe and Oceania. Each region has a representative on the
Executive Board of CGF.
While the Executive Board is made up of people from across the
world the main offices and staff are based in London. In addition
to the administration of the Federation the staff work with the
organising committees of Games cities to ensure compliance with
Games requirements.

event organized by the Commonwealth Games Federation. The games were
held in the years, mid-way between when the Commonwealth Games are held,
until 2008. They continued to be held every four years, but in the year after the

held in the year before the Commonwealth Games are held. The first
edition was held in Edinburgh, Scotland from 10–14 August 2000. The age
limitation of the athletes is from 14 to 18.
