This document provides definitions and examples of key color theory terms: primary colors are red, yellow and blue. Secondary colors - green, orange and purple - are created by combining two primary colors. Tertiary or intermediate colors are created by combining a primary and secondary color. Complementary colors sit opposite each other on the color wheel. Analogous colors are side-by-side on the color wheel. It also defines tints, shades, monochromatic colors and includes a value scale for grading.
