Sixty miles away from Trywern and focus of our presentation.
This is a 1948 new heritage edition ordnance survey map of Cwm Celyn which contained the community of Capel Celyn,
This is a Geosho map of Cwm Celyn now. Since 1965 it has contained 70000 megalitres of water.
It replaced this monoglot welsh speaking community of around 70 people. Despite 8 years of intense protest from the community and prominent figures in Wales
The colonial status of Wales highlighted by the Tryweryn situation was one of several historic factors instrumental in the creation of the Welsh Office in 1964 and eventually devolution in 1997
Tryweryn was a key factor in the rise of Welsh Paramilitary separatist movement – sponsored and supported by the Irish republican paramilitaries. This is a British Army patrol in Carmarthenshire following paramilitary activity
Tryweryn remains a significant and emotive turning point in Wales. Particularly with regard to the Welsh Language. Despite the deep scars left in the folk memory the beauty of the place cannot be denied.
Geosho specialise in this area and are creating a dynamic trail that allows visitors to walk around the lake. An app that will reveal what once lay beneath Llyn Celyn.
Geosho’s development team is based in North West Wales. We speak Welsh as a matter of course during our working day. We speak other languages too! We feel privileged to be a part of this and as a result understand that in order to interpret the place and its history effectively, translation from one language to the other was / is not an effective method of telling this story. To this end we are working with two authors who will create content for the trail in Welsh and English separately. We believe that this approach to interpretation, particularly a story so intriniscally linked with language and culture and politics.
Thank you for giving our company this opportunity. This presentation is going to cover two things.. Our view on collaboration and us, who we are and what we do.. Nothing technical, I promise
Finally… I will try my best to describe how we collaborate digitally, how we work with others, who we work with and why and how we sell and market to others .
