As a processing officer I provided support to various stakeholders of the organization.
Highlights of my experience as a processing officer include:
 Answering phone calls and emails in both official languages.
 Using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to document interacts with
stakeholders and providing resolutions to cases.
 Processing requests for post-award administration.
 Providing extended support during application deadlines.
 Consulting funding opportunities and applications to determine applicant eligibility.

Coordinator, Member Support, College of Reviewers (September 2015-December 2015)
During my brief tenure with the College of Reviewers I assisted in the development of a
member support framework, minute taking during meetings, and work on a communications
strategy for the launch of the College.
Program Delivery Coordinator(September 2014-July 2015)
As a program delivery coordinator I assisted in the success of the open programs portfolio.
Highlights of my experience at CIHR include:

Lab Technician (2009-2013):
As a master student, I worked on the following initiative:
Bacterial Community Structure in a Nitro-Organic Explosive Contaminated Soil Sample
As a result, I gained the following experience in a laboratory setting:
 Oversaw management of laboratory for this research project (e.g., cleaning supplies,
supply inventory, communications)
 Researched to better understand nuances
 Scheduled timelines
 Responsible for conducting experiments
 Recorded and interpreted results
 Supervised junior lab technicians
 Lab work conducted included:
o Extracted nucleic acids from soil
o PCR amplification and cloning of 16S rRNA gene
o Colony-PCR and sequencing of fingerprints
o DNA sequencing interpretation
The goal of my research was to identify bacteria capable of decontaminating soils with residual
explosive contamination as a result of detonations, disposals, demolitions, and mining.
Teacher’s Assistant (2008-11):
 Directly responsible for delivering tutorials
 Oversaw the coordination of several labs
 Responsible for high risk procedures (e.g., toxic chemicals, dangerous equipment)
 Directly responsible for 30+ students for each lab, which included:
o Student safety
o Clarifying procedures
o Teaching how to effectively work in a laboratory setting
o Time management
o Assigning grades on reports and participation
o Proctoring exams
o Answering questions related to the course material
Through my role as a teacher’s assistant, I wanted to instill an enthusiasm for biological
processes into the students. It was also prudent to emphasize laboratory safety and effective
techniques.
