Editorial Style: Your Guide To Clear Communications on the WebRick Allen
The purpose of web content is communication. But how do you ensure content being created and published across campus by numerous contributors and delivery methods supports your institution's communication goals? How do you know all that content is telling a consistent story about your brand? How do you ensure content educates and informs rather than confuses or misleads? Your editorial style guide is the "how-to" of content strategy, enabling clear communication.
An editorial style guide for the web helps content contributors create useful, usable, findable, on-brand content at your institution — it's much more than a list of preferred spellings and grammar usage. Don't just create content. Communicate, clearly.

The document discusses several branding strategies including sub-branding, umbrella branding, flanker branding, line extensions, brand extensions, ingredient branding, and co-branding. Sub-branding and umbrella branding involve using a parent brand name to address different market segments more precisely. Flanker branding uses a different but related brand name to protect market share from competition. Line extensions leverage a brand name for new products within the same category, while brand extensions apply a name to an unrelated product category. Ingredient branding promotes a component brand to consumers. Co-branding involves two brands jointly promoting themselves.
This arbitration case involves a grievance filed by a union against a company for recalling an employee with less seniority, Willis Hussmann, before a more senior employee, Henry Porter, in violation of their collective bargaining agreement. The union argues that Hussmann remained on the seniority roster and should not have been recalled before Porter. However, the company maintains that Hussmann had been in training for a supervisory role for a year with no union objection. While on layoff, the company recalled Hussmann to this supervisory position in order to prepare for resuming operations. The arbitrator ultimately denies the grievance, finding that the company had the right to promote a qualified employee to a supervisory role under
Everyone is already familiar with the idea of distributed applications that continue to function in the face of intermittent network connectivity, but its only since the release of HTML5 that a solution for discontinuous network connectivity can be extended to web applications.
In this session Florin will demonstrate how Oracle JET can be utilised to build offline web modules that may cache within the browser’s local database when the server is out of reach and how these modules can be integrated with existing APEX or ADF applications.
In this paper, the brief reviews of the significance of the myelin thickness to various root courses of the diseases for a human being and the similarities between the human and the lab mouse being researched extensively so far are presented. Once we establish the necessity for a biological statistical analysis of the myelin thickness with regard to the particular category of the brain cell, we develop a mixed algorithm based on the watershed principle and the binaryzation principle that can be used to automatically process the scanning electron microscope pictures in batches. The initial analysis does indicate that the mixed method improved efficiency of data processing while not overlooking some important medical diagnostic factors.
Squiggle birds is a quick exercise that you can use to get people stretching their visual thinking muscles. It takes about five minutes and quickly, clearly demonstrates how little effort is really required to make meaningful, easy-to-read images. The main point of the demonstration is that our minds are already pattern-making machines, and very little drawing is actually required to convey an idea. The mind will fill in the rest.
I learned this exercise from my friend Chris Glynn, a fine teacher who teaches fine things.
As always, your comments, thoughts and feedback are much appreciated.

The document describes The Last Bookstore in Los Angeles and efforts to design an online shopping experience for the store. It provides background on the store, which began in 2005 and now occupies a two-story space including a rare books annex and mezzanine galleries. User research was conducted including interviews and creation of a persona. Competitive analysis showed the store's uniqueness. The existing website lacked structure for online shopping. An information architecture was designed and prototypes created and tested to refine the user experience.

Oracle JET (JavaScript Extension Toolkit) is a modular toolkit for building rich and dynamic web applications. It leverages popular frameworks like HTML5 and CSS3. The presentation discusses integrating Oracle JET with WebSockets for live data updates. WebSockets allow bidirectional communication over a single TCP connection with low latency. The implementation shows setting up WebSocket connections in Oracle JET and handling messages. A live demo illustrates updating Oracle JET charts and lists in real-time from a database through WebSockets. Finally, the presentation explores rendering Oracle JET user interfaces within Oracle ADF applications for specialized use cases.
ING is truly positioning themselves more and more as a technology driven company. “The ING way” is all about finding new opportunities and products to exceed customers' expectations and to make sure that we focus on how to deliver the product instead of developing different products catering to the same need.
Over the past 2 years ING is adopting Cassandra fast and at the same time, ING is also focusing on the Customer Experience using a touch-point architecture based more and more on micro-services. For most API’s Cassandra is a perfect match whilst easing availability challenges by being active-active and having an always-on architecture. However, at ING we have a plenty of relatively small use cases which makes justifying dedicated clusters difficult due to avoiding SAN and hardware choices already made. There for a shared cluster is inevitable. We call this KaaS – Keyspace as a Service and can be compared to a hotel with tenants. One crucial aspect is that we need to create a sandbox environment for the entire organization as implementing Cassandra is hard and requires experience and un-learning.
Gary Stewart and Christopher Reedijk share our experiences on how we are making the switch to NoSQL accessible for the whole organization. It is far from easy and we will also talk about how we are addressing containment and a cost model for the hotel rooms.
1) The webinar provides an overview of the OVH Dedicated Cloud product, including a vSphere demonstration and Q&A session.
2) Key features of the Dedicated Cloud include vMotion for live migration of VMs, HA clusters for high availability, and DRS for load balancing. It also includes advanced functions like fault tolerance.
3) Attendees can ask questions about pricing, migration options, performance, and support for technologies like Zerto for disaster recovery between locations. Additional options like load balancing and backups with Veeam are also discussed.

Today’s modern infrastructure allows product teams to take full advantage of “infrastructure-as-code” and deliver value to their customers faster through a seamless & smart delivery pipeline. This delivery pipeline is built using AWS and 3rd party tools such as CloudFormation, Lambda, Terraform, Jenkins, Beanstalk, CodeDeploy, Ansible, and Docker. In the presentation we will walk you through the best practices of combining all the above into a “smart-delivery-pipeline” for your team. By Oron Adam, Emind CTO
