The red-billed gull lives along New Zealand's coasts, beaches, lakes and inland waters. It eats small fish, plankton, insects, crabs, and human food scraps. Potential predators of the red-billed gull include dogs, cats, rats, hedgehogs, large crabs, octopuses, otters and sea turtles. Human impacts like littering, destroying nests, storm water runoff, and vehicles on beaches can harm the gull and its habitat.
