5. My
Coaching
Philosophy
Establishing
and
adhering
to
a
team
culture
that
is
consistent
with
the
Golden
Rule
is
the
frame
of
reference
for
everything
we
will
do
as
a
team
–
that
is,
we
will
treat
others
in
the
same
manner
in
which
we
would
like
to
be
treated;
not
only
as
athletes,
but
as
people.
You
must
discipline
yourself
to
do
what
is
right
and
for
the
good
of
the
team.
We
are
a
family,
and
as
such,
we
must
be
committed
to
taking
care
of
each
other.
The
coach-‐athlete
relationship
should
be
that
of
teacher
and
scholar,
and
one
that
is
based
fundamentally
on
mutual
trust
and
respect
–
it
is
the
cornerstone
of
a
healthy
and
positive
relationship.
Integrity,
an
unselfish
spirit,
and
uncompromising
work
ethic
are
those
enduring
qualities
that
when
practiced,
will
allow
our
individual
talents
to
be
carefully
molded
into
a
cohesive
unit
known
as
a
team.
As
your
coach,
it
is
my
responsibility
to
model
the
standards
of
behavior
that
I
expect
each
of
you
to
adhere
to
and
establish
an
environment
in
which
you
are
encouraged
to
stretch
yourself
and
take
risks.
This
environment
will
serve
to
promote
your
development
as
a
player,
where
you
are
challenged
at
an
appropriate
level
and
inspired
to
consistently
do
your
personal
best.
Within
this
context
you
are
expected
to
take
personal
responsibility
for
the
opportunities
presented
for
creating
your
own
success.
Your
individual
commitment
will
contribute
to
achieving
our
objectives
as
a
team;
being
prepared,
striving
to
win,
and
having
fun.
In
the
end,
regardless
of
our
win-‐loss
record,
I
will
want
to
know
that
we
put
into
practice
those
character
traits
that
make
us
exemplary
teammates
and
citizens.
