A summary of the data validation services which 2and7 Limited can provide to your company to ensure data are collected accurately and in a timely manner.
Data validation is the process of checking database to ensure that the information gathered from different data sources is clean, accurate and in a standard format. Data validation can be simple or complex, depending upon the way it is performed. For example, validating email address, or phone numbers is easy. On the other hand, checking different data fields for consistency and accuracy in a master database will be complex. In a nutshell, data needs to be validated at the same stage/level where it’s most likely to be erroneous.

Assignment 4: Data Mining
Due Week 9 and worth 75 points
The development of complex algorithms that can mine mounds of data that have been collected from people and digital devices have led to the adoption of data mining by most businesses as a means of understanding their customers better than before. Data mining takes place in retailing and sales, banking, education, manufacturing and production, health care, insurance, broadcasting, marketing, customer services, and a number of other areas. The analytical information gathered by data-mining applications has given some businesses a competitive advantage, an ability to make informed decisions, and better ways to predict the behavior of customers. Write a four to five (4-5) page paper in which you:
1. Determine the benefits of data mining to the businesses when employing:
1. Predictive analytics to understand the behavior of customers
2. Associations discovery in products sold to customers
3. Web mining to discover business intelligence from Web customers
4. Clustering to find related customer information
2. Assess the reliability of the data mining algorithms. Decide if they can be trusted and predict the errors they are likely to produce.
3. Analyze privacy concerns raised by the collection of personal data for mining purposes.
1. Choose and describe three (3) concerns raised by consumers.
2. Decide if each of these concerns is valid and explain your decision for each.
3. Describe how each concern is being allayed.
4. Provide at least three (3) examples where businesses have used predictive analysis to gain a competitive advantage and evaluate the effectiveness of each business’s strategy.
5. Use at least three (3) quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources.
Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:
· Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
· Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.
The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:
· Explain how information technology systems influence organizational strategies.
· Evaluate the ethical concerns that information technologies raise in a global context.
· Outline the challenges and strategies of e-Business and e-Commerce technology.
· Use technology and information resources to research issues in information systems and technology.
· Write clearly and concisely about topics related to information systems for decision making using proper writing mechanics and technical style conventions.

A/B testing on the Web has become incredibly sophisticated in the last few years. New software makes it easier than ever to have a test up and running on your site. Still, a software program can only take you so far, and many marketers find themselves with questions.
In our next Web clinic, statisticians and testing experts from the MECLABS research lab will be answering some of the most common questions associated with online testing:
• Can I test more than one variable at a time?
• What is a multivariate test?
• Is a multivariate testing better than an A/B split test?
• Which page element(s) should I test?

A problem facing shoe store managers is that many shoes eventually must be sold at markdown prices. This prompts us to conduct a mail survey of shoe store managers in which we ask, What methods have you found most successful for reducing the problem of high markdowns? We are interested in extracting as much information as possible from these answers to better understand the full range of strategies that store managers use. Establish what you think are category sets to code 500 responses similar to the 14 given here. Try to develop an integrated set of categories that reflects your theory of markdown management. After developing the set, use it to code the 14 responses.
1. Have not found the answer. As long as we buy style shoes, we will have markdowns. We use PMs on slow merchandise, but it does not eliminate markdowns. (PM stands for “push-money”—special item bonuses for selling a particular style of shoe.)
2. Using PMs before too old. Also reducing price during season. Holding meetings with salespeople indicating which shoes to push.
3. By putting PMs on any slow-selling items and promoting same. More careful check of shoes purchased.
4. Keep a close watch on your stock, and mark down when you have to—that is, rather than wait, take a small markdown on a shoe that is not moving at the time.
5. Using the PM method.
6. Less advance buying—more dependence on in-stock shoes.
7. Sales—catch bad guys before it’s too late and close out.
8. Buy as much good merchandise as you can at special prices to help make up some markdowns.
9. Reducing opening buys and depending on fill-in service. PMs for salespeople.
10. Buy more frequently, better buying, PMs on slow-moving merchandise.
11. Careful buying at lowest prices. Cash on the buying line. Buying closeouts, FDs, overstock, “cancellations.” (FD stands for “factory-discontinued” style.)
12. By buying less “chanceable” shoes. Buy only what you need, watch sizes, don’t go overboard on new fads.
13. Buying more staple merchandise. Buying more from fewer lines. Sticking with better nationally advertised merchandise.
14. No successful method with the current style situation. Manufacturers are experimenting, the retailer takes the markdowns—cuts gross profit by about 3 percent—keep your stock at lowest level without losing sales.

Pre-employment testing is becoming ever more popular with employers who, over the last decade, have seen the number of applications for their job openings rise significantly. Such testing allows recruiters to gauge both technical proficiency for a role and specific personality traits that may be deemed advantageous - before even meeting an applicant face-to-face. The benefit to such screening is obvious; if your company receives 50 applicants for a position, a full round of interviews will be costly, in both a time and money sense. Pre-employment testing allows companies to cherry-pick those candidates who warrant an interview, from those who probably don’t.
But what do candidates think of such testing? Is it expected, or a surprise? And what about fairness – perhaps some candidates resent such recruitment methods? And what of the opinions of direct employers?
In this whitepaper, we attempt to shed-light on these attitudes, from both the candidate and employer perspective. There are some interesting statistics throughout, which have helped us make some specific recommendations for all stakeholders in the process to consider.

How analytics should be used in controls testing instead of samplingJim Kaplan CIA CFE
Sampling has existed as a standard for controls testing since controls testing began. We’ve developed algorithms to tell us how many samples we should pull and how many errors we can have and still pass the control. We’ve even developed algorithms to tell us how many more samples we can test if the control didn’t pass the first time.
If your goal is simply to do the minimum to pass a SOX audit, then these behaviors should probably continue. If your goals also include really improving the operations of the organization to make it stronger then a more holistic approach is needed, such as analysis on 100% of the population, rather than a small sample.
Most controls analytics do not require a degree in data science, but they do require the controls team begin changing its behaviors. Join us to understand what it takes to begin this change, it’s not as challenging as you might think.

4. How do I ensure my Supplier’s CMRT Data is Valid?
5. Q&A
3. What is Data Validation?
INFO@ASSENTCOMPLIANCE.COM | WWW.ASSENTCOMPLIANCE.COM | TEL: 1-866-964-6931
Data Validation is the method by which companies identify inaccuracies in supplier provided CMRTs
In practice, this is done through the analysis of conflicting responses
Ex: A supplier states that they have only received information from 50% of relevant Tin suppliers
(Question 5) but have identified all of their Tin Smelters (Question 6)
If the Supplier has not received information from all sources, they cannot have identified all
their Smelters
Ex: A supplier states they do not have 3TGs from the DRC (Question 3) but list a Smelter known to
source that mineral from the DRC on the Smelter tab.
Even if a Smelter is certified as Conflict Free, if they source from the DRC and they are
listed on the Supplier’s Smelter tab, that supplier needs to answer yes for the appropriate
mineral in Question 3
Data Validation is becoming more and more prevalent, especially as companies start adopting more
advanced technologies to tackle Conflict Minerals and other regulations
Depending on your vertical and Conflict Minerals process, approximately 25% of Supplier data is invalid
This can have significant impact on your CMRT since you are rolling up your Supplier’s answers.
Recommendation: If you haven’t already, you need to start conducting Data Validation on your
Supplier’s CMRT submissions.
4. How Does it Work?
INFO@ASSENTCOMPLIANCE.COM | WWW.ASSENTCOMPLIANCE.COM | TEL: 1-866-964-6931
There are 2 different methodologies and 2 different implementation types
Methodologies
Standard
Look only at Supplier Declaration tab to compare answers for contradictory responses
Complex
Cross-reference information from the Supplier Declaration tab against the Smelter tab
looking for inaccuracies (Note: This is in addition to the checks made in the Standard
version)
Implementation Types
Manual
Automated
Standard methodology usually catches human errors or misunderstandings
The Complex methodology usually catches data that was previously unknown to the Supplier
5. Ensure your CMRT is Valid
INFO@ASSENTCOMPLIANCE.COM | WWW.ASSENTCOMPLIANCE.COM | TEL: 1-866-964-6931
How do you make sure your CMRT passes a Data Validation check?
Review your answers!
Many “Invalid” responses are accidental
Look at Questions 3, 4, 5 and 6!
The answer to those questions is what triggers 90% of Data Validation failures!
Send it to Assent – we’ll check it for free
Looking at the major stumbling blocks:
#3 – Do any of your 3TGs originate from the covered countries?
You can answer Yes with 1 response but you can’t answer No without 100% (proving a
negative)
#4 – is 100% of the 3TG in question from a recycled source?
HINT – if you don’t know, the answer is no.
#5 – Have you received info from all relevant 3TG Suppliers?
If you are not at 100%, then you can’t make definitive statements for Questions 3, 4 and 6
#6 – Have you indentified all your Smelters?
If the answer here is yes, then #5 must be yes.
Also impacts #3
6. Ensure Supplier CMRTs are Valid
INFO@ASSENTCOMPLIANCE.COM | WWW.ASSENTCOMPLIANCE.COM | TEL: 1-866-964-6931
Here you need to look at your Methodology (Standard vs Complex) and your Implementation (Manual vs
Automated)
This is very hard to do Manually in general
Complex can not be done manually
If Manually then you will need to have all your answers on 1 spreadsheet,1 row per supplier, with all the
answers from the declaration tab populating their own columns to the right.
Use Data Filters
Filter Question #3 for the Answer “No”
Make sure that the corresponding answer for #5, 6 and 7 is yes
Any other response for #5, 6 or 7 would be invalid
Filter Question #4 for the Answer “Yes”
Make sure that the corresponding answer for #5, 6 and 7 is yes
Any other response for #5, 6 or 7 would be invalid
Filter Question #6 for the Answer “Yes”
Make sure that the corresponding answer for #5 is yes
For an Automated approach – you can use Assent
