He will also demo a GitOps approach for continuous delivery of kubernetes deployments with Helmsman. Although, the talk focuses on Kubernetes as a deployment platform, the tips apply to other platforms too.

It provides infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and software as a service (SaaS) models in both public and private cloud deployments. The platform is multi-tenant and auto-scales resources elastically based on load. It aims to simplify deploying and managing applications and services in the cloud with tools for development, identity management, and governance.
Effective cloud-ready apps with MicroProfile

In this session, you'll learn how to develop applications that evolve according to your needs, can easily run in the cloud and integrate with common cloud technologies. We'll start with a simple application, focusing on business logic. MicroProfile framework, powered by a lightweight opensource Payara Micro runtime, will get us started quickly and allow gradual improvements later.
MicroProfile contains a lot of components that make developers productive. It allows separating business logic from common concerns like configuration, failure-recovery, REST service calls, context propagation across service calls and securing services. Adding all of these to existing code is easy. It's also easy to introduce new microservices as needed and adopt cloud technologies as your application grows. I'll show you how, in a step-by-step demo. And if time allows, I'll also show how to run and scale your application effectively with Kubernetes in the cloud.

Do you use Cloud? Why? What about the 15 year legacy of your data center? How many Enterprise vendors tried to sell you their "Hybrid Cloud" solution? What actually is a Hybrid Cloud?
Cloud computing is not just a new way of running servers or Docker containers. The interesting part of any Cloud offering are managed services that provide solutions to difficult problems. Prime examples are messaging (SNS/SQS), distributed storage (S3), managed databases (RDS) and especially turn-key solutions like managed Hadoop (EMR).
Hybrid Cloud is usually understood as a way to unify or standardize server hosting across private data centers and Public Cloud vendors. Some Hybrid Cloud solutions even go as far as providing a unified API that abstracts away all the differences between different platforms. Unfortunately that approach focuses on the lowest common denominator and effectively prevents using the advanced services that each Cloud vendor also offers. However, these services are the true value of Public Cloud vendors.
Another approach to integrating Public Cloud and private data centers is using services from both worlds depending on the problems to solve. Don't hide the cloud technologies but make it simple to use them - both from within the data center and the cloud instances. Create a bridge between the old world of the data center and the new world of the Public Cloud. A good bridge will motivate your developers to move the company to the cloud.
Based upon recent developments at ImmobilienScout24, this talk tries to suggest a sustainable Cloud migration strategy from private data centers through a Hybrid Cloud into the AWS Cloud.
Bridging the security model of the data center with the security model of AWS.
Integrating the AWS identity management (IAM) with the existing servers in the data center.
Secure communication between services running in the data center and in AWS.
Deploying data center servers and Cloud resources together.
Service discovery for services running both in the data center and AWS.

Serverless security for multi cloud workloads
This document discusses serverless security for multi-cloud environments. It provides an overview of serverless computing and cloud security models. It also describes security services available on AWS, GCP and Azure clouds and discusses how to harden functions as a service (FaaS) by disabling outbound internet access, restricting access to temporary directories and disabling child process execution. Specific exploits like accessing function handlers and manipulating temporary files are demonstrated. The talk recommends provisioning FaaS within private networks and using techniques like monkey patching to dynamically update code behavior and enhance security.

Despite its grandiose-sounding title, this deck consists of just three slides showing the Scala 3 code to be rewritten whenever the details of the operators begin to fade away.
