What is Cloud?
 The cloud is a term used to describe a global
network of servers, each with a unique function
 The cloud is not a physical entity
 It is a vast network of remote servers around the
globe.
 They are designed to either store and manage data,
run applications, or deliver content or a service such
as streaming videos, email, office productivity
software, or social media etc.
Cloud Computing
 Cloud computing is the delivery of computing
services—including servers, storage, databases,
networking, software, analytics, and intelligence—
over the Internet (“the cloud”) to offer faster
innovation, flexible resources, and economies of
scale.
 You typically pay only for cloud services you use,
helping lower your operating costs, run your
infrastructure more efficiently and scale as your
business needs change
Cloud computing and its
Services
 Public Cloud
 Private Cloud
 Hybrid Cloud
PUBLIC CLOUD
Public cloud
 Public clouds are owned and operated by a third-
party cloud service providers, which deliver their
computing resources like servers and storage over
the Internet.
 With a public cloud, all hardware, software and
other supporting infrastructure is owned and
managed by the cloud provider.
 You access these services and manage your account
using a web browser
PRIVATE CLOUD
Private cloud
 A private cloud refers to cloud computing resources
used exclusively by a single business or
organization.
 A private cloud can be physically located on the
company’s on-site datacenter. Some companies also
pay third-party service providers to host their
private cloud.
 A private cloud is one in which the services and
infrastructure are maintained on a private network
HYBRID CLOUD
Hybrid cloud
 Hybrid clouds combine public and private clouds
 They are bound together by technology that allows
data and applications to be shared between them.
 By allowing data and applications to move between
private and public clouds, it gives your business
greater flexibility, more deployment options and
helps optimize your existing infrastructure, security
and compliance
 Infrastructure as a service (IaaS)
 Platform as a service (PaaS)
 Software as a service (SaaS)
• IaaS is the delivery of technology
infrastructure as an on demand scalable
service.
• IaaS provides access to fundamental resources
such as physical machines, virtual machines,
virtual storage, etc
• PaaS provides the runtime environment for
applications, development & deployment
tools, etc..
• PaaS provides all of the facilities required to
support the complete life cycle of building
and delivering web applications and services
entirely from the Internet.
• SaaS model allows to use software
applications as a service to end users.
• SaaS is a software delivery methodology that
provides licensed multi-tenant access to
software and its functions remotely as a Web-
based service.
ADVANTAGES
 Lower computer costs
 Improved performance
 Reduced software costs
 Instant software updates
 Improved document format compatibility
 Unlimited storage capacity
 Increased data reliability
 Universal document access
 Latest version availability
 Easier group collaboration
 Device independence
