We can act to mitigate the future effects of climate change by addressing the factors that cause changes in climate
change, and we can adapt to changes in climate by addressing the factors that make society and the environment
vulnerable to the effects of climate change. (Pielke, 2004, p.4).
According to researcher’s climate change can be alleviated. There are ways to implement mitigation policies to
actively reduce the number of emissions of greenhouse gases and to capture those emissions, successfully
enabling environmental systems to becoming more flexible in adapting to irregular weather patterns and
changes that is detrimental towards the environment. (Pielke, 2004).
Pielke (2004), investigates that effective climate change policy will
depend entirely on the combination of mitigation and adaptation
policies working side by side to control emissions of greenhouse gases.
3. CRAAP Test
Currency – the article has been updated in 2004 hence it may not be as reliable in academic writing.
Relevance – article provides useful information about implementing mitigation polices in reducing
emissions of greenhouses gases.
Authority – author Roger Pielke Jr is a political scientist who write on diverse range of policy and
governance issues related to science, technology, environment, innovation and sports. He his famous for
his work on climate change.
Accuracy – There were four peer-reviewed work referenced in this article used as evidence to
support.
Purpose - the article shares the authors views on the mitigation policies and is somewhat subjective.

“On land, temperatures have risen about twice as fast as the global average. Deserts are expanding, while heat
waves and wildfires are becoming more common. Increased warming in the Arctic has contributed to melting
permafrost, glacial retreat and sea ice loss”. (Wikipedia, 2022, p .2).
The sea has recently been heated more slowly than it has on land resulting in the sudden movements of plants and
animals. Most of the animals and plants in the ocean have moved to the colder poles compared than those on land.
(Wikipedia, 2022).
Wikipedia (2022), states that due to the intense heat and the continuous rise in the temperature affecting weather
patterns has immensely contributed to the expansion of drier climate zones.
5. CRAAP Test
Currency- the article was recently updated.
Relevance – information is useful as it states the impacts of how climate change is affecting wildlife.
Authority – not so reliable as there is no author provided. Henceforth uncertain about where the information
was retrieved and who published the information.
Accuracy – It has not been recently reviewed and has no supporting evidence.
Purpose – Authors purpose is to inform the reader and is successful as it provides relevant information
concerning climate change and impacts upon the environment.

“Leading health organizations around the world are responding to the related water and food shortages and
volatility of energy and agriculture prices that threaten health and health economics”. (Macpherson, 2014, p.
1).
Climate change is a challenge that imposes a lot of threats affecting life and the norms of society in every
aspect. The increasingly severe extreme weather results in illness, air pollution, changes in rainfall affecting
vegetation and other means. (Macpherson, 2014).
PhD professor of Bioethics and author of Medical Ethics, Macpherson (2014) strongly argues that the rising
population growth is one of the main drivers of climate change – worsening the changes by ways of
generating more emissions of greenhouses gases.
7. CRAAP Test
Currency - the work was published in 2014 and it may possibly not be considered as credible.
Relevance - article is of relevance because its states the outcomes and consequences of climate change.
Authority – Cheryl Cox Macpherson is PhD professor of bioethics in the department of Clinical skills at St
George’s University school of Medicine in Grenada and an author who have published her book title the
Medical Ethics. Based of the authors qualification it is safe to say her work is reliable.
Accuracy – it is well reviewed and has been published in her book titled, ‘Medical Ethics’.
Purpose – The article is informative and objective.
