Cleopatra was the last active ruler of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt who lived from 69 BC to 30 BC. She met Julius Caesar in 48 BC and bore him a son, Caesarion. After Caesar's assassination in 44 BC, she aligned herself with Mark Antony in opposition to Octavian. Their alliance ended with their suicides in 30 BC, after the Battle of Actium and Octavian seized control of Egypt.
