Demand deposits include current deposits, demand liabilities of savings bank deposits, margins held against letters of credit and guarantees, balances in overdue fixed deposits and recurring deposits, unclaimed deposits, and credit balances in cash credit accounts. Time deposits include cash certificates, recurring deposits, time liabilities of savings bank deposits, and staff security deposits. The Banking Law Amendment Act of 1983 allows depositors in India to nominate individuals to receive deposits in the event of the depositor's death for all types of deposit accounts, including pension accounts.
