Cisco’s New ‘Light Switch’-The Catalyst Digital Building Series
Cisco surprised us…again. Yes, again! Cisco announced the Catalyst
Digital Building Series Switch on February 1, 2017.
This new network hardware from Cisco Systems gives new meaning to the
words “light switch”.
Cisco Catalyst Digital Building Series Switches
It is an Ethernet switch designed to link different kinds of building
infrastructure over a network. It uses Cisco’s enhanced version of PoE
(Power over Ethernet) to run things like lights and cameras while collecting
data about those devices over the same standard cable.
The Cisco Catalyst Digital Building Series Switches are industry’s first ever
purpose-built switch designed for low-voltage LED lighting and digital building
systems. The switch can be used to power devices and applications with
Cisco’s perpetual and fast Universal Power over Ethernet (UPOE) technologies,
delivering up to 60W/port.

  • 1. Cisco’s New ‘Light Switch’-The Catalyst Digital Building Series Cisco surprised us…again. Yes, again! Cisco announced the Catalyst Digital Building Series Switch on February 1, 2017. This new network hardware from Cisco Systems gives new meaning to the words “light switch”. Cisco Catalyst Digital Building Series Switches It is an Ethernet switch designed to link different kinds of building infrastructure over a network. It uses Cisco’s enhanced version of PoE (Power over Ethernet) to run things like lights and cameras while collecting data about those devices over the same standard cable.
