This has been a very difficult year for us - a year of transitions, some of them were desired, most were not. But we are here, together, and still trusting the Lord and we praise him for both the trials and the blessings he has so generously given us. We are the most grateful for God’s gift to us. The gift of salvation, given through his son, Jesus Christ, and that gift is still being given today. As many of you know, we have moved from East Tennessee and are now living in Sparta, a small town about 90 miles from Nashville. Leaving all the grandparents has been very hard. We have adjusted well here with the help of our new church family, Calvary Christian Church located in Cookeville. They are a working church and immediately found us “jobs”. Susan is already instrumental in the education program and the children’s choir and I am teaching the adult Wednesday night bible study. We love the people and have grown in many ways since we have been attending there.Susan has had the most difficult time of all of us. She has had to go back to work and place Katy and Jaden in daycare. We had no choice since we had to keep medical insurance and it is not offered to me in my current position. She is teaching Algebra and Geometry at the County High School. She is struggling with some difficult students this term but hopes things will improve in the Spring.I am still a contract worker at Cummins, and eventually I am sure I will be made full-time, but I have to admit that my patience is being tested. I love my work, but I am getting tired of wondering if my contract is going to be renewed every six months. As far as the children go, a lot is happening with them. Leslie is now in Florida where she is planning on attending college once she can afford the tuition. It has been a while since we have heard from her and we hope and pray she is doing well. Jacen is in the first grade and an exceptional student. He has an intense love of reading and is currently reading the Vet Volunteer books his cousin Kylee gave him. He loves to learn and I hope he never loses this love. He is very active in cub scouts and has already earned his first badge. We are very proud of him. Jaden’s visit back to Cincinnati Children’s for dealing with issues related to his Hirschsprung’s disease were very successful and he is doing much better now. He is the most loving of my children (and the most mischievous) and you never have a dull moment when he is around. Both Jacen and Jaden love the outdoors here and enjoy actually having a level yard to play in and other children in the neighborhood to play with. And, of course, Katy is the little devil who is into everything. She tries her best to keep up with the boys, and in another year, she is going to be a real terror for them. She has the most winning smile and all of us, the boys included, love her immensely. It is torment for us to leave her during the day at daycare, but we make the most of our time with her in the evening. Our hope for you is a joyous holiday season. May it truly be blessed. Remember to keep Christ in Christmas!Love ,The HoustonsLes, Susan, Jacen, Jaden & Katy00Hello from Sparta, TN!
