History of Christmas Christmas is in honor of the birth of Jesus. Christians did not  know the exact date of Jesus' Birth date  but they observed it as December 25. Christians made this a holiday because they believed that Jesus was the savior of the world. One of the historical events associated with this holiday is that Christians believed that God told Mary and Joseph that they will give birth to a baby named Jesus and he will be the son of God.
The Holiday Today  The things people associate with Christmas are the tree, lights, Santa Claus, presents, stockings hanging on fireplaces, and pointsettas. Christmas is celebrated on December 25.   People usually celebrate Christmas in  houses or churches.   People celebrate Christmas because it is the birth of Jesus.   People usually give gifts to each other, they also have a big dinner, go to church ,and may take part in a special religious services. People also have off from work and school. That is the holiday today!
