Many families bake in christmastime.
They do it because it is “hyggeligt”, and
it is nice to have cookies if you have
friends or family over.
Hyggeligt is a danish word we use a lot.
The translation is cosy.
3. In my family
In my family we bake marzipan, we make
chocolates and we bake “pebernøder”.
“pebernødder” is a kind of christmas
biscuits, they look like nuts, we also bake
“napoleonshatte” but that's not a
christmas cake.

4. In my family
We bake “pebernødder”, “Vaniljekranse”. ”Havregrynskugler. sometimes we
make “Fedtebrød”. and sometimes we make something with marzipan.

In my family we only bake “pebernødder” and “brunkager”
“brunkager” is a brown cake we eat in christmas. sometimes
are there almonds in but we don’t use it because I’m allergic
to it.

6. “Æbleskiver”
In Denmark it is a really old tradition to make
“æbelskiver”, it starts in 1616 (sixteen
sixteen), but in the beginning doesn't
“æbelskiver” look like them we see today, in
really old days they were made of apple, flour
and butter, and they were flat. It is called “æble
skiver”, because people in old days put apples
in the cake, but today there are not so many
people who put apples in it. “Æbleskiver” have
many different names, in Norway it is called
“Munker ” and in german it is called “Beignets”
and that's only some of the names, there are
far more.
7. Klejner
In Denmark we also make “Klejner” in a
klejne
there are butter, sugar, eggs, whipping
cream
citron, hartshorn, vanilla powder,
cardamom
flour, salt and sunflower oil, for frying oil. It
is one of the oldest cookies in Denmark.
Klejner are from the middle ages.
8. “Honninghjerter”
Honninghjerter is a old tradition like
“æbleskiver” the first “honninghjerte”
was made in 1800 hundreds.
“Honninghjerter” are from denmark,
and the first “honninghjerter” was made
in southern jutland. it is called
“honninghjerter” because there are
honey in it, and they look like a heart, in
some stores is there also sprinkles on
the hearts, but that's a new thing.
9. “Brunkager” “peberkager”
“brunkager”, and “peberkager” look like
each other, “Brunkager” and
“peberkager” are cookies many people
bake because it is a easy cookie to make,
and because it is a tradition. People stick
the cakes out so they look like hearts,
mans and womens and many other
things, after the cookies are baked they
are decorate with “glasur”, “glasur” is
like frosting and glaze.
10. In my family
In my family we make “pebernødder”, “vaniljekranse” and “brunkager”.
Every year our family and my cousins, make pebernødder and christmas
chocolates together.
