The Khmer Empire It is today called Cambodia It was the main power on the Southeast Asia main land  for centuries  Reached their peak of power around 1200 One of the worlds greatest architectural accomplishments, called Angkor Wat, was built in the    capital Angkor The statue was dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu
Island Trading Systems Sailendra ruled an agricultural  kingdom on island    of Java Build the Buddhist Temple at Borobudar in 800 It was massive and had 9 terrace levels like a    pyramid Fell under the power of the powerful island empire of    Srivijaya Established capital Palemang, which became  a large center for Buddhist learning
Vietnam People of South Asia least influenced by India Fell under Chinese domination It was under Chinese control for 1000 years  until it became independent in 939 Established capital at Hanoi Expanded empire by conquering neighboring people to the south

Geography of Korea Korea was located on a peninsula that sticks out of the Asian mainland towards Japan, they say it is as big as Utah. Very mountainous, limited Farmland. Korea developed isolation from other lands because their mountains and seas acted as barriers. Climate is very hot in the  summer and cold in the winter.
Beginning Korea There were some different legends about how the first Korean state was founded . One was the heroic song of a god and a bear, and the second was a royal descendent of the Chinese shang dynasty. Like the Japanese, Koreans  Took some influences from China And made their own to fit their lives.
Beginning of Korea In the beginning of early Korea, Tribes and clans owned separate lands in Korea. The Han empire soon conquered most of Korea , started military and began learning different ideas about centralized government, Buddhism and writing.   In the mid 600s , three main kingdoms arose. Silla which was one of them defeated its other  2 rivals and took control.

The Koryu Dynasty In the tenth century, the Silla’s power weakened and rebel officer, Wang Kon took over, started Koryu Dynasty Lasted for 4 and 1/2 centuries (935-1392) This centralized government was split into 2 groups: aristocrats and the rest of the population Nobles had lots of land and there was barely any left for everyone else
The fall of the Koryu Dynasty In 1231, the Mongols swept Korea demanding a huge tribute from Koryu rulers In the 1350s, the Mongol empire collapsed Even after, the wealthy tax from the rich landlords caused rebellion In 1392, the Koryu Dynasty was overthrown, and reforms were to be made Scholar officials and military leaders established a new dynasty called the Choson
