This document contains several poems praising and affirming the power and authority of God's Word as revealed in the King James Bible. The poems emphasize that reading and studying the Bible provides strength, wisdom, guidance, renewal and spiritual nourishment. They assert that the Bible exposes sin, transforms lives, and points believers toward righteousness. The final poem encourages opening the Bible to find encouragement, inspiration, instruction, correction, and hope.

When I need counsel,
when guidance I seek
I turn to God’s Word
then I let it speak.
For its full of wisdom,
so divinely conveyed
and I know it is God
who I need to obey.
His Word won’t cause,
me to go astray
for it reveals to me

God wants me to go.

Upon the tablet of my heart,
the Word of God I etch
for I know without His grace
I’m just a miserable wretch.
His Word reveals to me,
Light in its purest form
it exposes all my sin
the wickedness I perform.
In God’s Word I can find,

how to avoid being filled
with anxiety and strife.
His Word imparts wisdom,
it gives me understanding
it helps me from being...
to this world conforming.

9. Some people pump iron,
some go to the gym
some lift heavy weights
just to stay trim.
Some people run miles,
some walk for hours
some use machines
to get all their power.
The only thing I lift,
weighs less than a pound
but, oh what strength. . .
there is to be found.
I don’t need to exercise,
or even break a sweat
I don’t have to work out
nor side cramps do I get
I just pick up my Bible,
for my strength training
and in the Word I find. . .

I’m filled with inspiration
for it opens up to me...
thought for contemplation.

12. My faith in God keeps growing,
it’s getting sturdier everyday
for, I delight myself in His Word
no matter the time of day.
The Word of God is nourishment,
day and night, it makes me strong
it brings refreshment to my soul
wherever I go, I take it along.
There is a continuous renewal,
flowing right out of my Bible
daily there’s a Godly influence
no matter my burden or my trial.
I can see the fruit of growth,
maturing right inside of me
no matter the time of a season
I know in God’s Word, I need to be.

17. When I need some peace,
I turn to John 14:27
then I leave all my fears
on the throne up in heaven.
When I’m feeling anxious,

then I give all my troubles
to God to mend and fix.
When I need more strength,
I mediate on Psalm 18:2
then I rely on God’s power
to help me to get through.
When I’m feeling worn out,
I study Isaiah 40:31
then in God I am renewed
and my worries I overcome.
When I am low on faith,

then I learn to trust in God

then I just bask and soak up

One says I must have works,
The other says by grace alone
Still some say that for my sins

22. Every day is a smorgasbord,
a buffet of renewed pardon
A fresh supply of God’s grace
found in His Word garden.
My appetites are gratified,
From each verse that I pick
They bring me such comfort
Whether feeling well or sick.
I hunger after what is holy,
to fill me up for the day
And in the Word I can find
comfort throughout the day
I crave the righteousness,
Reading the Word will bring

There is such a peace,

profitable for teaching
it’s a reproof and a correction
to use for righteous training.
It’s the Living Word of God,
it makes us competent and able

It is a lamp to our feet,
a light unto our path

it will keep us from God’s wrath.
It’s to be used for mediation,
all our living nights and days
it is the Bread of Life
that shows us our evil ways.
It instructs us on endurance,

to seek and find God’s face.

It’s to be stored in our hearts,

When you’re feeling lonesome,
and it seems no one really cares
though you might be all alone
know that God hears your prayers.
For He is the morning wind,
that blows across your face
touching you with His goodness
caressing you with His grace.
When you’re feeling discouraged,
and deep waters begin to flow
cast your cares upon Him
and just watch His blessings grow.

The Bible is like a mirror,
it reflects yourself, so true
it shows the cardinal man
that is living inside of you
On the surface, it looks nice,
so polished and so clean
but, if you were to read it
all your sins would be seen.
The Bible is like a mirror,
it reflects what’s in the heart
and if you were to study it
you’d see every ugly wart.
You’d see every little blemish,
every spot and sinful mark
but, if you were to apply it
you’d no longer be in the dark.

His reflection should be in you
but you must study and apply it
to your life ~ for this to be true!
