6. Confirmation can be defined as
the sacrament instituted by Christ
in which the baptized—through
the laying on of hands and the
anointing with chrism, together
with sacred words—receive the
Holy Spirit in order to publicly
confess the faith with fortitude,
by words and deeds.

7. The word Confirmation comes from
the Latin word “confirmatio” which
means “a strengthening”

8. Confirmation confers a sacramental
character that cannot be erased.

9. Confirmation brings an increase
and deepening of baptismal
grace:
It roots us more deeply
as children of God.

17. WHO IS THE MINISTER OF CONFIRMATION
 The ordinary minister of
confirmation is the
Bishop.
 Only the bishop can delegate
(appoint) a priest to confirm in his
name on special occasions or
circumstances.

18. WHO CAN BE CONFIRMED?
Every baptized person not yet confirmed
can and should receive the sacrament of
Confirmation.
Since Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist
form a unity, it follows that "the faithful are
obliged to receive this sacrament at the
appropriate time," for without Confirmation and
Eucharist, Baptism is certainly valid and efficacious,
but Christian initiation remains incomplete.

19. SPONSORS
The role of the sponsor is to help the
one being confirmed remain firm and
strong in the faith.
Sponsors are role models of faith,
their task is to give support and
inspiration to those living the Christian
faith.

20. REQUIREMENTS OF
CONFIRMATION
1. Must be 12 years old and above. (Grade 6)
2.Must have photocopy of Baptismal Certificate
3.Must have at least one sponsor.
4.Must wear white upper garment.

21. Confirmation is the sacrament where
the Holy Spirit empowers baptized
Christians to be public witnesses to the
Good News of the Kingdom proclaimed by
Jesus Christ. We need to pray often for the
Holy Spirit’s power and love to come upon
us and fill our hearts.
